uh oh...first red flag.... apparition release.....means will be a limited release with not much paid exposure.....2nd red flag...in theaters march 19, not a typical movie going month....I see this going to DVD quickly....I'm definately not pants wetting excited.....since Joan has said this is based on Cherie's book (which may or may not contain hazy distorted rememberances) and is being reshaped/embellished by Floria......this may be a colossal waste of time or it may be mildy amusing....I won't hold my breath....

and since it was made for under 10 mill, they most likely will at least recoup their investment $$$$...... if it isn't a clunker.

Whatever.
Be optimistic or don't go see it then.
I think it will do well . It has a STAR studded cast and I have read some of the script and Joan can say what she wants to say but from what I read it is more about Joan then Cherie.
Just cause it is a Indie movie and made under 10 million means nothing .There are alot of Indie movies that were made for less and where big hits.
It may not be number #1 at the box office but I am sure it will do well . Kristen is a huge star right now and you now all those Twilight fans will be going to see the runaways movie.
I am excited rather you or anyone else is .

I hope it's good. I work with a couple of girls in their early 20s who had never heard of Joan Jett, so I got them to watch some Runaways vids on YouTube. They were blown away ("Why don't we have music like that today?!?") and are looking forward to the film, so I hope it doesn't disappoint.

fallspeed, that "they were blown away" is the most gratifying thing I have heard recently. If this movie, regardless of how it turns out, can help turn new people on to the greatness that was "The Runaways", it will all have been worth it in my book.

Yeah, and when all these Twilight fans get turned on to the "greatness" that was the Runaways they may ask, who is this Jackie Fox? I didn't see HER in the movie.

I think it's going to be near impossible to please the hardcore fans (like us). I for one still can't get over the Robin debacle (particularly after sitting down with my Japanese pressing of "Live in Japan"last week and reading all of those great question and answer inserts, each individual band member getting her own persona out there.) Jackie was part of that legacy during the band's peak no matter how anybody tries to slice it. Not having her forever on celluloid is a major jip. Also, we're almost like the band's historians: we recently chatted about a quote from Creem magazine that most all of us knew the origin of; that's pretty random and quite fanatical. There are bound to be so many truths stretched. Not to mention the actresses that knew their characters for a few weeks before going right into filming-(teeny tiny rehearsal period, if any-hence a low budget film) and we've known all the ins and outs of these characters (the band members, Kim Fowley) for years. That said, of course I still CAN'T WAIT to see the movie, and am psyched it will show many the band's name for the first time. It would ne nice if ITunes could stock something other than "best of..." and "And Now..." so the band could possibly make some royalties while the film is hot.

Jackie kind of screwed herself on this one. I mean, Lita ford didn't want any involvement with the film and she kept it that way, now here she is in the film and in a positive light (all-be-it small part). Jackie said she didn't want to participate upfront, then was trying to meddle in the scrept later. You had people like Jett who is financing this movie with their own money and had a vision, along with the producers of the film. Ha...can't imagine what fireworks were to happen if Lita pulled what Jackie did.
I'm not saying I agree with the lawsuit or anything, and I know it would have been her image up on the screen, so I understand her desire. I just think Jackie was pushing buttons when she knew very darn well she was pushing those buttons. In hindsite she should have just left well enough alone.

No Jackie shouldn't have left it alone . I am on Jackie's side 100 % although I am a die hard Joan Jett fan . Blackhearts Records were selling merchandise with Jackie's face along with other members and Jackie wasn't seeing one penny.
Also, Jackie just wanted to make sure they didn't include her in the movie so she wanted to see the script as proof that Blackheart was not.
Wouldn't you be curious & wonder what other bands mates are gonna say or have someone portray you ?
I disagree with Joan/Kenny & Blackheart staff members.
Why couldn't Joan just call Jackie and tell her direct ?
Joan accused Jackie of harresment when Jackie just didn't want to be involved and Blackheart was already making money of her.
Look what Joan / Kenny did to Lita ?
Offered her $1,000 for her life story ?
Are you f*cking kidding me?
shame on JOAN !

Turn around is fair play. I don't know this for fact and I pretty much agree with Jettigre's take but after the way BH F'd with Edgeplay I wouldn't imagine that some of the other members would want to make this film a cake walk for them. Just a hunch.
