I just found this article mentioning what you posted. ‘The Runaways’ Finds Its Lita Ford in Scout Taylor-Compton – RopeofSilicon.com Movie News, Trailers, Reviews and More

Scout Taylor-Compton is set to reprise her role as Laurie Strode in Rob Zombie’s Halloween II due out August 28, but she has just announced via MySpace page she has joined Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning in The Runaways.

The film is based on Joan Jett’s seminal 1970s rock band. Kristen Stewart will play Jett and Dakota Fanning is on board to play bandmate Cherie Curry in the River Road pic, which will revisit the short but influential life of the first all-female band of the rock era.
Previously Alessandra Torresani (”Caprica”) was tipped to play Ford, while Taylor-Compton was said to be playing Jackie Fox. Perhaps they have switched?
Floria Sigismondi is directing from her own script.

Hmmm, maybe because Alessandra said she was going to meet Lita- and she did. And Lita popped her in the chops and said "What part of not wanting to be in this didn't you get?"
Sorry- but I could TOTALLY see her doing that once upon a time. (Like as late as 2002)

You popped me on that one, though I see more of a smack upside the head and a priceless facial expression. Hopefully from her comments this mean the actress had actually heard of Lita ahead of time. You just can't hope to get the essence otherwise. Actually...I'm not sure anyone could. There's only one.

I don't know, but it would be awesome. But I would rather go for Christy's solution of the slap upside the head and priceless facial expression. I would buy tickets to see that along with other alternatives of what could've happened. That would be one great show.

When casting changes involve big name stars-- like Russell Crowe replacing Brad Pitt in State of Play, for example-- usually the trades acknowledge it and traffic in some basic speculation. But with Halloween actress Scout Taylor-Compton apparently replacing Alessandra Torresani as Lita Ford in the music biopic The Runaways, Variety isn't mentioning it at all, and it's up to the onliners to speculate exactly what happened. Torresani told MTV just a few weeks ago that she was confirmed to play Lita Ford, the guitarist for The Runaways who joined the group when she was 17. Slashfilm suggests that Taylor-Compton may have gotten the role instead because she knows how to play the guitar, and Torresani does not.Taylor-Compton will be in the public eye big-time before The Runaways even finishes filming-- she's starring as Laurie Strode once more in this summer's Halloween II. www.cinemablend.com/new/Laurie-Strode-Is-A-New-Runaway-13709.html

But didn't Lita say in that Swedish interview recently that she is in no way connected with this movie, and whoever is playing her is not really "her" I mean, if Lita is refusing to be a consultant to "herself" for the actress, how are they really going to have her accurately portrayed for the movie??

It's based on Cherie's autobiographical account. Lita could have enhanced the story but she chose not to. That doesn't mean she can shut the project down, nor does it mean it won't be an accurate representation. I sure wish she could rise to the occasion! Gus

Gus, I'm sorry, but "Rise to the occasion?" She has her feelings about the band, the people involved, and the storyline. Trust me, Chrys and I worked for Lita for quite a while, she has many valid issues that I'm not EVEN going into here. This is better left alone. Really, it is.

Well, it's going to be someone else's interpertation of Lita Ford. *Sigh* Lita is probably not going to be very happy, but again, she was going to be between a rock and a swamp if she had decided to be involved. Not a nice place to be, the view sucks.

Sorry for getting little off topic, but you worked for Lita?! OMFG!! Did you ever meet her? I would die. Sorry, had to. She's my second favorite former Runaway, and my sometimes top guitar hero (when I'm not in a Nancy Wilson phase). It would be nice if she were involved, but she must have her reasons. Back on topic, I think this actress looks a lot more like Lita than the first one, and if she knows her way around a guitar, major bonus.

Yeah, I met her several times, I have photos somewhere of at least one of the times. We've talked on the phone, sent stuff back and forth.......I have tons of stuff signed by her, including a pair of jeans that she signed, Jim signed, and had James's first autograph on them. When she and Jim did Rumble Culture (mini tour) we were chatting, and she was like "Oh, we haven't announced it but I'm pregnant!" Oh, I could go on, about working for her, plans that didn't make it out of the second stage, etc. Sandy and I used to sit around the fire and tell Lita stories......always a riot.
