Oh, the possibilities! Discuss. Considering Cherie's worship of Bowie at that time, some of his tracks are sure to be featured in the film. Here's hoping that they'll pass on "The Jean Genie" for once. That'd be a really lazy selection. Why not give "Rebel Rebel" a go? According to set reports found here www.imdb.com/title/tt1017451/board/flat/141766624?p=1Dakota as Cherie will perform Bowie's "Lady Grinning Star", which I think is a very appropriate choice in context. I remember reading somewhere that Cherie was fond of ballads like this one, so it's very in character. Plus it's weird enough to provoke heckling if one were to sing it at a talent show. Here it is, for those of you who haven't heard it before: www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9Plj4YzvlE&feature=relatedI think it's one of his finest songs. I'm looking forward to seeing Dakota fly her freak flag in this scene. It'll make me very proud of her. No joke.

I really hope Dead End Justice makes it. I already know that Neon Angels and I Love Playing With Fire are going to be on it which is a great thing. Some Suzi Quatro would be nice (Bowie's on the soundtrack so Suzi should be too).

So come alive! YEAH! Come alive! YEAH! Down in Devil Gate, down in Devil Gate, down in Devil Gate Drive!...
Suzi is a flawless performer but a total snob. I had V.I.P tickets for when she last came to my town and she pasted me on the stairs, shot an evil, and took off again. Although at the time i really couldn't care less because i just had a whiff of the great Suzi Q (smells like perfume and leather) but looking back it made me feel a bit s***ty.
The show was d*** good though...

For some reason when I try to picture that, I see Suzi walking down the stairs in an all-leather outfit with a fan blowing her hair back and you just trying to make your way up when she shoots you a bitchy glare. I'm not sure why I'm picturing it that way, either. Well don't feel bad, it could've been worse (I would probably feel pretty s***ty too, though). But oh the smell of perfume and leather. One of my favorite combinations.

Thats what i mean, her scent it deceiving haha. And it kinda was like that actually, she was walking down the stairs in ripped blue jeans and a leather jacket (she looked d*** good) walking next to some security guy (smart idea, we Bendigonians carry knives in our socks) and my dad strutted up past her, safe to say music is close to being last on his top priority list, and left me half way up the stairs frozen in time. Could not move or say a thing. Suzi held her head high, looked at me like i'd said something degrading about her mother and continued to strutt down the stairs ignoring the fans in line down stairs. To be fair, i guess she's deserved that kind of 'self assurance' if you will, in all honesty she is the original female rocker. But i really am over her bagging out Joan all the time. She puts down Joan several times in her book, and talks about Joan's career like she'd be nothing without her. Calls her 'clone Jett' and of course we're aware that Joan was a huge fan of Suzi back in the 70's (hot hair-do ) but Suzi goes too far. I can't bring myself to finish her book, she's much too self absorbed. But besides all that, she really knows how to put on a show

Oh s***, not the mother-diss look. That's one of the worst. She sounds kind of like a bitch (not meaning any offense.) I think someone needs to give her the anti-bullying lecture. Maybe I'll make my principal read that book (since she goes on about reading anytime she tries to make small talk with a student) She'll probably write Suzi a letter about put downs and all that crap.
But I guess her music and stage presence makes up for the attitude. She does put on one hell of a show.

Very true. I had seen Pink's "I'm Not Dead" tour a few months before i saw Suzi, and my GOD Pink was A-mazing! To say the least. But still, Suzi managed to blow her out of the water. The yeeeears of experience showed. Anyway, trying to get back on topic (my fault), that gorgeous man they call Bowie will surely HAVE to be in this movie. And how about good 'ol Elton John? Wasn't "Bennie and the Jets" playing at the "Sugar Shack" when Cherie was first approached by Kim? And back on Bowie, besides the well known fact of Cherie worshipping the ground he walked on, wasn't Joan much attached to "Rebel, Rebel"? I've heard her say it's one of her faves, not to mention she covered it early on the blackhearts. I'd go crazy if some New York Dolls or Sweet or Slade was blasted sometime during the movie too I will now finish with saying, "Wham Bam! Thankyou, Ma'am!!" heh heh

(Okay, I will, but that's how much I want them on the soundtrack.) Other bands that have to be on this soundtrack: the Ramones, Blondie, Sweet, Slade, and KISS. That would be one of the best movie soundtracks I've heard in a while.

Dakota was supposed to lip-sync to "Wild Is The Wind" but now I'm hearing she is doing "Lady Grinning Soul". Kinda sucks casue that's one of my favorite Bowie songs.
From what I know there is some T-Rex, Iggy and the Stooges, The Kinks and alot of other good stuff, but no one knows for sure it they will actually get the all of this on the soundtrack as opposed to the script.

"Get it on, bang a gong, get it on" sorry i tend to break into song at some points.
So, so SO(!) good to hear that some T-Rex is in there and i brought a Iggy and the Stooges t-shirt today haha money well spent. . . makes sense having Iggy in there, after all, it was in the 1970's (anyone who got what i just did, you are as pathetic as i am lol) search and destroy baby, search and destroy.
It'd be fitting having the Ramones and Blondie in there, seeing as they not only toured with the Runaways (the Ramones anyway) but the members were good friends with the girls, well, Joan at least.
I could survive without KISS in there, but i've heard some stories of the guys hanging out with the girls, also Gene sending them flowers with a card saying he wanted to get with them all haha!!
OMG!! I want some of the Dead Boys in there!! I love Stiv Bators. . . And surely they'd sneak some Deep Purple or Zeppelin or Sabbath in there. . .

I just found out that "Lady Grinning Soul" was the B-side to the single "Rebel, Rebel", which was off Bowie's "Diamond Dogs" album.
It all fits together great because I can imagine both Joan and Cherie listening to this single on their turntables, over and over. Only Joan has "Rebel, Rebel" on repeat while Cherie is taken with "Lady Grinning Soul" and thinking it very bewitching and glamorous indeed.
I can just see Cherie sizing herself up in a mirror and deciding "I wanna do that...I can do that" and soon after, her coiffure is made similar to that of her idol, and bleached platinum. Meanwhile Joan, who had made similar convictions, has vacated her room (its walls barren save for a Suzi Quatro poster, a prize stolen from Rodney's English Disco), running out to steal that leather outfit she'd been eyeing for the past month.
Makes me smile to think it's entirely possible that this is how it all started. Joan and Cherie's professional ambitions originated here. And there's no doubt in my mind that they bonded over their mutual love of Bowie's music.
Oh, it's making me sad. It was all so innocent in the beginning, and you all know how it ended. Such loss.
I really hope this film will deliver. I don't expect it to be as good as the one I've concocted in my head, but I'd love for it to come close.

This is all sounding too good to be true. It sounds like one of my mix CD's. I think Led Zeppelin, Heart, Deep Purple, The Clash, Black Sabbath, and Gen X should be on the soundtrack too.
