WTF? I was reading an article about the casting of Lita and they said that Alessandra Torresani was the "final female who'll help get the band back together." They also need to announce the bassists (or even quite possibly Robin *shudders*) before they say that the last part of the band has been cast. Did they announce it and I was just totally out of the loop? Does anybody know what's going on with this?

It's been said in Interviews that this movie is MORE about the friendship between Joan and Cherie and that it's to show that time period of 76/77. This is NOT a movie telling a story ABOUT the RUnaways neither is it a documentary like Edgeplay. Joan (Stewart) and Cherie (Fanning) are the MAIN characters in the film. Sandy (Maeve) Lita (Alessandro) and Fowley (Shannon) are supporting roles. Since there were SO MANY bassists, the movie will NOT focus on any one bassist. The movie is based on Cherie's book "Neon Angels" and Executive Produced by Joan. The bassist(s) will not be a major, or possibly even minor, part of the movie.

well, yes, i know. but i think it's important to have the whole band in the movie. but i have just recently read that they are in fact using Robin. that sucks big time. but the movie will still be pretty rad (unless the Sandy and Lita actors don't do well, but I hope and think they'll do fine)

I feel the same way. But since Jackie didn't want ANYTHING to do with the movie, and the fact that she's a LAWYER, may have a part in why her NAME is not used in the film as the Fab Five bassist.

Really? How friendly were Joan and Cherie? VERY friendly. If you believe what Cherie said in Edgeplay, anyway.

Can someone please fill me in on Robin? Is Robin the hybrid name of all the bass players?

yes. since there were so many bassists, they're collaborating them into one super awesome bassist. only I don't think she's super awesome. every one of the bassists deserve to be in this movie and what they're doing just doesn't seem right.

Ha..I don't know if they have enough time to put all of the bass players in but maybe they could! They should put Jackie in, I mean I don't know anything about the law but I don't think they even need Jackie's permission. Did Oliver Stone need Bush's permission to make a full length movie about him?
I also think they can still make a movie about The Runaways as a band, through it's full existence, revolving around ALL the band memebers, but still have a focus on Joan and Cherie's special friendship.

I agree Injett. Maybe there's more to the story than any of us actually know. Maybe it'll be revealed later. Personally, I think Jackie should be portrayed as the bassist. The whole "Robin" thing is wierd for me. Anyway, I'm still stoked about the movie. Aside from "Robin" the bassist, It's looking like it'll be a kick ass movie!!!

Instead of this lame "Robin" character, maybe they could have ALL the bassists included as maybe a running gag through out the film that they can't keep a bass player ala Spinal Tap's drummer. It would be better than having a fake nobody conglomeration of all the bassists. Jackie needs to be represented, it won't be right without her somewhere in the movie. Or maybe I've just had to much to drink...

Well, since the movie is to "capture that time period" of when Cherie was in the band and the Fab Five were recording and touring that would cancel ALL the OTHER bassists and call for only JACKIE to be represented. I agree w/ everyone that JACKIE should be. Why she isn't represented may be Jackie's request or some story that we don't know about yet. Yeah, the "Robin" thing sux!

I totally agree. Also, if they are definitely using Robin, then people who have never heard of the Runaways are going to get false information about the band and think that Robin is an actual member. That's one thing that's really bugging me about her other than the fact that they have no right to exclude every bassist from this movie.

Too bad you, or anyone else, couldn't convince Jackie to opt in.
Once again, the movie is based on Cherie's book. Jackie was the bassist when Cherie was in the band, so "every bassist" being represented would not be accurate. I think they want the movie to be as accurate as possible and I, for one, am glad about that! Gus

It's been awhile since I have read Cherie's book. One of my fond memories of the book was when all the girls were on a bus and this older fat lady "Godzilla" was picking on Jackie for being jewish. Then the girls sprayed her with something?
I don't remember if it was in the book or if I heard in in Edgeplay or in a magazine, but I remember Lita saying how they would be covered in spit after leaving the stage of some shows they played. These are the kinds of things I hope to god they put in the movie.
To me it really shows how tough these girls were and how much they had to put up with compared to female acts that followed them. Wasn't Joan knocked off the stage at some point and kicked in the ribs after some rough male audience didn't want to accept her, this might have been when she was first a solo act though? At any rate, I don't think any of the girl perfomers of today would hold up to all of that.
