Omg, please be joking. I got to meet Lita and her oldest son over this summer and she was so cool to talk to. I saw Jim and her youngest little boy too standing by the side of the stage during her performance. I thought they seemed like the happiest couple, this is so sad that they are breaking up. Just...wow...;(

so, is joan 5'5ish or 5'0ish? I stood next to Joan when she walked past me at her concert. I am 5'5'' and we were both wearing combat boots. Joan is about 5'1", not much taller than that. I met Lita Ford and she around the same height as Joan.

I am 5'5'' inches tall when I stand up straight and I met Lita Ford over the summer. She is TINY, about 5'1'' I noticed as I was talking to her. I saw Joan in concert and didn't get to meet her but she walked right past me and is about 5 feet tall or so, maybe the same size as Lita. I think Cherie is the tallest Runaway at 5 feet 5-1/2 but I haven't seen her in person. I feel so thankful that I actually got to meet Lita (!) and have talked to Cherie & Jackie online, now if I can just meet them + Joan in person that would be wonderful!

I think I'm like both of them..

I had no idea that Patti Smith was so competitive with other female artists, how disturbing.
I do remember a blog post Jackie Fox posted a decade ago when she said that The Runaways met Patti backstage at a show and when they walked into her room Patti said to them "Get the f**k out of my dressing room!" According to Jackie they were fans of Patti's and didn't have anything against her until she treated them that way.

Hey Cherie, omg so glad to see you on here!! Yeah my mom told me you were on Oprah but she might have been watching Sally Jesse so its hilarious that she got the 2 of them confused, lol! I'm one of your Facebook friends and I really enjoyed talking to you on there all the times that we did. I just love you so much Cherie and I have told you that before but I can't tell you that enough. You are so awesome and amazing, I love you and everything you girls did with that band. Thank you so much for being you Cherie, and for coming on here and talking to us all.. ;0

My favorite Runaways are in order:
1) Cherie 2) Joan 3) Lita 4) Jackie 5) Sandy 6) Vickie
I have to say that it is a VERY close tie between Lita and Joan though, they could really go either way. Joan is the one who is most like me although I just love to watch Lita solo on the guitar. LOVE this band..

My favorite Runaways song has to be Cherry Bomb, of course! I also love Queens of Noise California Paradise I love Playing with Fire You Drive me Wild Neon Angels on the Road to Ruin Allright You Guys Dead End Justice
Those are probably my favorites, but I have to say I really prefer everything they did on the Live in Japan album more than the studio albums. The Runaways music is really best appreciated LIVE because they sound so raw and so aggressive and awesome when you hear them this way.

The VERY first time I discovered who the Runaways were I was 11 yrs old and I was watching MTV's top countdown. Lita Ford was in the top 10 for her Kiss Me Deadly video. Adam Curry said "Lita Ford, former Runaway" and with my tarded 11 yr old logic I seriously thought he meant she had ran away from home in her youth. LOL! But I watched her video and was completely drawn to her. I found out quickly that the Runaways were a BAND, and via Metal Edge magazine that she had been in this band with Joan Jett. I had already heard of Joan Jett but I really discovered her when she put out the video I Hate Myself For Loving You at the same time Lita's Kiss Me Deadly video was out. So I discovered both of them at the same time and I got into Joan's early 80's music.
I was totally into Lita and Joan and then I read that the Runaways had a singer named Cherie Currie who sang Cherry Bomb and I saw a pic of her. Another awesome girl I discovered, but Cherie was such a mystery to me for many years because she didn't have videos on MTV like Lita and Joan and I really had to dig for info about her. My mother saw Cherie on Oprah one day talking about the Runaways and her new book, and I was so mad that I didn't get to see the episode. At the same time the movie Cherry 2000 was out and I first heard the song Cherry Bomb on TV via this movie clip. WHAT IN THE HELL IS THIS??!! I thought to myself. This was the coolest song I had ever heard, and I was 12 at the time and had no way to get ahold of it. Throughout my teenage years I had to really go out of my way to find music and info about the Runaways because in the days before the internet this stuff was really hard to find. I finally found the Best of The Runaways CD that I ordered from a music store and that's when I actually got to hear more of their music besides just Cherry Bomb.
OMG, I can't even describe the impact these ladies have had on me and my life. Cherie, Joan, Lita, and Jackie if any of you ever read this I just want to tell you THANK YOU for what you girls accomplished and what you did with that band. You all are my role models and you mean so much to me, more than I could ever let you know...
