You guys probably know about this more than I do. I've been wondering whats been happening to CBGB since it got shut down. I've been searching all over the internet looking whats been happening with it, and I saw that this is a current photo of the place. Since I knew what CBGB was I always wanted to be there, or even, if I finally get a band play there. But it got shut down so if I have a band I won't be able to play there unfortunately. Anyways, I want to know whats been happening to the club.

I hope one day someone buys it & turns it back into CBGBS or something similar.
I can't believe no one in the music world didn't THINK to take it over & keep it as a punk rock club. It would have been nice if someone in the music world would have saved it. Even the Rock N Roll Hall Of Fame could have stepped in & saved it.
Now look at what we have?
Shame on the Rock Community.... SHAME !

Because they couldn't. The building owners did not want a music venue there- at all.

Idk if you get my point And which owner? Hilly? or the person who stayed with it after Hilly died?

there's always hope. at least Studio 54 got a second life with Cabaret! London and NYC are two of my favorite places on the planet...but they eat their young like this a lot. at least the nostalgia is preserved. I remember when Rent closed, all our notes and gum and junk...HISTORY was reduced to one small wall that someone cut out for a museum. I was there in 1995 and it changed my life in terms of acceptance and tolerance. And I remember CBGBs from when I lived in Manhattan. Wrenches your gut, doesn't it?
