I was watching The Doors biopic for the first time the other night because it was on tv (very good btw) and I was just thinking to myself how many other great artists out there haven't had movies made about them. Artists who immediately sprung to mind were the late great Janis Joplin, the first woman to break into the boys club of rock n roll. It is criminal that this music icon has not had her fascinating and poignant life story immoratalised yet, it's criminal! I love love love Janis, and before anyone mentions 'The Rose' starring Bette Midler which I own that is not a biopic it is just loosely based on Janis, very loosely. I heard that a film is in the works about Janis scheduled for 2012 but it is not a biopic unfortunately but I will still pay to see it. Also the girl who is rumored to star as Janis, Zooey Deschanel is way too pretty, I think P!nk would have been a better choice, I heard her sing Me and Bobby McGee, brilliant version.
Another one who springs to mind are The Ramones, there was talk about a movie but I think that stalled or is the process not 100% on the facts but these punk legends trully deserve a movie too. If the rumours are true a Joan Jett Blackhearts biopic would be sweet. On this topic who do you think deserves to have a movie made about their life and contribution to music?

Blondie: All the fighting amongst group members would make one hell of a movie. Kiss: ditto

They have been talking about doing a movie about Janis for ages. Melissa Etheridge wanted to play her but is she too old now? I dunno. I loved the biopic Janis except for the interview where she talks about high school and shows her vulnerable side which was sad to me. Janis was so, so great.

Blondie: All the fighting amongst group members would make one hell of a movie. Kiss: ditto a blondie biopic would have the same problems as 'the runaways', as debbie harry has a grudge against gary valentine, frank infante & nigel harrison, so she'd probably try to stop or restrict mention of them in the movie. chris stein, clem burke & jimmy destri wouldn't have a problem with it, but i reckon debbie would.

Blondie should have a biopic but for the above reasons that I agree with it proberly will never happen.
I would love to see a Biopic on Social Distortion or just Mike Ness that would be great .

I loved the biopic Janis except for the interview where she talks about high school and shows her vulnerable side which was sad to me. Janis was so, so great. Ah true, Janis was like all great artists incredibly talented but also a really tortured individual. It was sad how no matter how big she became in her career she could never escape her demons. Like she said herself I was a weirdo among fools. I guess at some level you can't outrun where you're from and in Janis' case that was sadly true when she attended her 10 year high school reunion and those narrow minded rednecks still looked down on her and laughed at her. Morons didn't realise they were in the presence of a music legend! Another artist who I would't mind seeing in the role of Janis would be Joss Stone, she has the lungs and she looks really like her too. P!nk was the first choice for the upcoming movie I mentioned earlier but she pulled out, real shame she would have nailed it too. On the subject of a Blondie biopic would love to see it too but like mentioned before all the bad blood between members and ex-members it probably would never see the light of day which is a real shame. Perhaps if it was just a Debbie biopic, would love to see how they show how Debbie selflessly sacrificed her own career to look after Chris when he got sick also that little jem between Debbie and Patti Smith would be funny to see, man Patti didn't really like any other young thing stealing her thunder ;D

a bowie biopic would be good, especially if it centred on his ziggy & berlin periods- it'd have to be a bloody long movie though, if they did it right!

David Bowie biopic would have one epic soundtrack plus it would be cool to see how he kept re-inventing his image throughout the years, he is a real chameleon

Joplin and Hendrix would be hard simply because finding the right actors would be very tough. Way too many bands to mention. Very few rock groups have actually had biopics done about them.
But I would love to see films made about the Stooges, Mott the Hoople, and the Clash.

If that Crystal chick from American Idol can act, she could do Janis easily. She can certainly sing her!

and it's been said, but my vote would be for a Patti Smith biopic. I'm a little too young to have REALLY known what that era was like firsthand. would love that!
