This kinda makes me happy to see that other musicians use Joan's Melody Maker. This is from the band Hot Chelle Rae. I like their music, well just one song cause I didn't like their album. If you guys want to check them out here's a video of them. www.youtube.com/watch?v=sa3bZ8FnxUg

Interesting that Joan is playing the black Melody Maker now. I don't see that guitar available from Gibson; only in the original worn white finish. The black is really interesting looking. Anybody know how she came to get this? Special request from Gibson maybe?

Maybe Gibson would make it available later.... I like the white one, but the black one looks more shiny?? lol but I really like it, if Gibson's starts to sell the black one I would buy it!

I was in the front row directly in front of Joan at a show last Saturday night so I got a really good look at the guitar. The wood grain looks the same as the worn white only painted black and yes shiney. There are also two little hearts going in opposite directions on the fingerboard (stickers?) and the pick up didn't look the same to me; it didn't look wrapped at all. I did look to see if her signature was on the neck like the other one and it is.

I am looking forward to seeing what the real differences between the two are. The black one is really cool looking.

I would probably do the same if I were you because it seems she is mostly playing the black one now and using the white as back-up.

Gibson has a Custom Shop that will make or modify any Gibson model you want. All it takes is time and money! Her "new" guitar was made for the Sundance premiere and is a marketing tool to sell more of her sig guitars. Got a white one? now you can get a black one!!! Got all her albums? now you can get her greatest hits package too! a common sales ploy, seems to work, 'tho....
