Have you seen the official movie website synopsis? Yeah, this is not a biopic of the Runaways...
Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in this music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s:The Runaways. The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impersario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and family of misfits.
What a crock of bs. Joan should just own up to the fact that this movie is a biopic.

Does anyone else think it's downright weird that Joan and Cherie are thick as thieves now, steering this movie, under the same management (which means Cherie is doomed now as well?), since by most accounts Joan couldn't wait for Cherie to leave the group so she could be the lead singer? Strange bedfellows indeed. Maybe the film could be called Joan and Cherie: Runaway Imaginations?

Strange bedfellows indeed. Maybe the film could be called Joan and Cherie: Runaway Imaginations? They were teenagers when they had a falling-out. I don't think there is anything weird about two people making amends at age 50 and becoming very close and working together on a project they both care deeply about.

Injett - they are now 50 plus years old and still having a falling-out so do you think they will ever make amends ? I don't think so with law suites and the girls bashing each other on different websites and in the press lately?

If there are real characters, Cherie, Joan, Lita, Kim, Sandy, it's a biopic. If they were named differently, may be able to pull off the "not a biopic" claim. It is a biopic.

Oh, and I honestly never see them making amends this late on. Why bother? The tour fell through and now this movie I am sure is gonna cause more drama along with the jabs here and there by Lita & Jim, so ....

jettigre - I was referring to cheeribum's comment about Cherie and Joan being strange bedfellows now, after their history in the band (after Cherie left the band). I don't think ALL the girls will ever make amends with each other but I think Joan, Cherie, and Sandy seemed like in recent years they were able to get along the most. I'm not taking sides with any of the various quibbles the different band members had with each other. But lets take what we can get, if Joan and Cherie (or Lita and Vicki) are close now that is great, no need to second guess it.

You'd think Sandy's death would have taught them all just how short life is, and how stupid it is to squabble over petty stuff.

Maybe you all know this already, but here's the film script (PDF):
*EDITED FOR TOS* Well, just from reading the script, it looks like they took all the most sordid and sensational aspects of their career and cranked it up to 11, with little emphasis on the music. And they heavily compressed the band's history, which is to be expected in a film.
It sounds like a good movie to dissuade young girls from joining a band. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU!

I have a problem with PDF so I can't read that. How do you know it's the final script. I heard there were several variations floating around.

Reminder: No posting of scripts, links, etc, it's against the TOS
