I'm wondering what music other than the Runaways everybody listens to. Feel free to share your musical interests and suggestions.
Recently, I've been listening to a lot of Heart, Distillers, David Bowie, Blondie, and the Rocky Horror soundtrack. I love all of their music, but I go through these phases where I listen to them obsessively (it's like that all the time with the Runaways, the Blackhearts, Suzi Quatro, and the Ramones.) Also, I can't seem to stop listening to "World of Denial" by Joan Jett & the Blackhearts.

Along with most of the artists you named, I would add to my list: The Doors, Cream, pre-1970s Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd when Syd Barrett WAS Pink Floyd, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Marc Bolan & T.Rex, Lou Reed, The Velvet Underground, The New York Dolls, The Zombies, The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds, Pixies, Nirvana, The Replacements, Joy Division, The Smiths, music from off-Broadway show Hedwig and The Angry Inch, The Original Broadway Cast recording of Hair, Sondheim, Kander and Ebb, South Park:B,L & UnC soundtrack, *cough* ABBA *cough* ,Jeff Buckley, Hank Williams, Johnny Cash, and many more.
There's music I'll party to,that is simple and straightforward, and then there's music that moves me intellectually and/or emotionally. One album that does both equally well would be the studio recording of Hedwig and The Angry Inch.

Ah yes, how could I forget?! I've been listening to mostly everything that you've just listed there except for the bands from the 90's. I practically listen to everything from the mid-60's to the mid-80's plus Hedwig and the Angry Inch and the Distillers.

Wow a compliment for my music taste from someone who's not over 40 haha!
Im slowly trying to save my 7 year old sister from the music of today, but god darn Hannah Montana is winning. Although i have put a couple of 'the good stuff' in her top 4. Her favorite artists are: The Ramones (she has the biggest thing for Joey, smart girl), Pink, Divinyls (although not so good when she sings "I Touch Myself" in front of Mum (I'm Australian, we spell it with a 'u') and Dad) and Hannah Montana. I lost there haha.
Although it shocked me when she broke into song today while we were waiting in line at KFC in the food court. Everything was silent as we're waiting in line, then all of a sudden she goes "I love rock 'n' roll! Come and take it down baby!" yes, she needs to work on her lyrics but she is 7, and it's a 1980's song. At least she got the first part right hehehe

Haha, I know what you mean. The only person I can really talk about music with is my only friend who has the same musical taste that I do (except he's not really into the Distillers and Bikini Kill) and I can talk about the punk and rock bands of the 70's and 80's with my dad. Good luck with your sister. She seems to be on the right track but she took a wrong turn. Maybe you should sit her down and cleanse her soul. I remember the days when I sang 'I Touch Myself' in front of my mom. She just laughed. Same with 'Physical' by Olivia Newton-John. Your sis has a good taste in men . I'm more for Dee Dee, but Joey's still on my list of 'People I Can't Get With' (It's a long list).

She's only 7 but she's doing good. Although I much prefer her sing songs from High School Musical (as much as i want to hack every actors head off in those movies) rather than her sing "tut-a-tut-a-tut-a-touch me" from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Which she has shocked the s*** out of Dad with, a many times hehe.
My Mum and step-Dad have NO interest in music WHATSOEVER although Mum has gone on about jumping on the back of ABBAs limo back in the 70s and singing the wrong lyrics to "Lick It Up" by KISS, but she loses points for the ABBA story and Dad listens to the classic (strictly) Aussie rock when AC/DC and Skyhooks come on VH1. Although my real-dad has some insanely good stories of seeing Deep Purple and Fleetwood Mac live when he was teen. He's the one who introduced me to REAL rock 'n' roll. Played me a classic, (and i mean classic) Deep Purple video from the 70s. Ritchie Blackmore changed my music taste for good.

Yeah, but she's still the spawn of Satin i swear. Anyway, there's this local band from my town called the Killerbirds they're 3 chicks and play rock/grunge. They are A-mazing. They've toured with the Cosmic Psychos, and The Runaways are one of their biggest influences. I think they sound like a mix between L7 and the Distillers. Check them out. www.myspace.com/killerbirds

glad to see Tegan and Sara love! I've been listening to them since 1999. Blows my mind how big they are now. I can remember them crawling over our legs to get to the bathroom at the Railway in Vancouver. Us being the "crew" who were like a big family back then. Good times!
