The Runaways Message Boards are provided for the enjoyment and entertainment of Runaways fans and those new to the band who want to meet other fans. It is run by the former webmaster of TheRunaways.com. Just about anything is open for discussion as long as these simple rules are kept in mind:
1. We can not leave anything slanderous on the boards. If we see or are advised of a post that is blatantly slanderous, we will have to delete it, for our protection, yours, and the party being discussed. No former member of The Runaways owns a slave ship off Abu Dubai, nor do they run a secret weapons lab in New Mexico. At least that we know of.
2. We've created categories to keep things simple. Please don't post anything not Runaways-related in the Runaways area. You can talk about non-Runaways-related things in the Anything and Everything section of Off Topic Discussion. This is just to make it easier for those who don't want to read about anything that isn't central to the band.
3. We will delete any posts advertising sites that promote rampant drug use, guns, violence and things of that nature. Nobody needs that stuff and there are teenagers who come to this board, so please keep that in mind. Registering to post to advertise, post links to Ebay auctions, bootlegs, or porn sites gets you banned as well.
4. Runaways fans dot the world and not all of them share English as a first language. Please respect that, we want as many people as possible to find some enjoyment here and even native English speakers sometimes have trouble with this wacky language of ours. It doesn't always translate well so please don't make someone feel unwelcome just because we were born into one of the most difficult languages in the world.
5. Blatant personal attacks are quite pointless. If you want to hang out and talk about The Runaways (or whatever in the Anything and Everything area), feel free to stick around. Disagreements are the spice of life and make us individuals, but going on a name-calling rant about someone you may never have met (or their mother) doesn't do anyone any good. So let's try and keep our disagreements civil and respect that everyone is entitled to his or her own opinion.
6. Don't post someone else's writings without their permission Copyright is automatic and does not require the little copyright sign.
The Big Bad Ban
In general, we don't like banning people. But on occasion, someone reverts to age of four so completely we have to do it for the good of everybody else. Here are some examples of things that can get you banned if you show a penchant for them:
A. Posting another user's personal information that is not otherwise made public by them, like their real name, address, phone number, etc.
B. Attacking another user personally or attacking their family. We don't care if their opinion differs from yours. That's life. If you feel the need to say something bad about someone, especially someone on another board, you can just say something like, "I'm not crazy about some of the people over there" without getting specific about particular people. And we'll still think you take little things like message boards way too seriously.
*Added*
Threats against moderators, staff, band members, or members gets you a one way trip to the FBI cyber crimes division-this comes with a personal visit from our friend "Tiny". And, no he is not.
We, like just about every other entity on the planet, reserve the right to change these rules or add to them when we see it's necessary.
The Most Important Rule
The most important rule here is to have fun. Have an opinion without denigrating someone for having one that's different from yours. And relax. At the end of the day, this is just a message board. It doesn't make the world go round, but it can be entertaining. If someone has an opinion you don't share, it doesn't mean they are attacking you as a human being simply by having it. If we all thought the exact same thing, I dare say we'd all probably eat Brussels sprouts, listen to Tom Jones and watch endless reruns of Howard The Duck. And nobody needs that. At least not all of it.
And for crikey's sake, laugh sometimes! It certainly makes me feel better.
