I am doubtful this movie will ever see the "Light of Day." Curious how they would release information about the project so early. My guess is they're trying to generate a buzz to secure that "private financing" they keep talking about. Honestly, I don't think there's enough interest. Joan has been neurotically guarded about her personal life, and Cherie's so loose-lipped she has nothing left to reveal. What kind of a compelling story could come of it?
I agree, this vanity project is meant to be VTB's comeuppance for Edgeplay.

Stan the man, is it really you? It's nice to finally see you here.
I think this movie might happen but I agree there won't be enough interest for it to enjoy any measure of success. If it comes out it will probably go strait to DVD or just become like the last movie project Joan was involved with...The Sweet Life. It never did come out, did it?
Still I'm intrigued. It will be interesting to see what they come up with, especially if the band's music is used. Even before Edgeplay was released I remember talk from Joan's camp about a movie but back then I figured they were just blowing smoke. Time will tell.

Hey there. I don't by any stretch of the imagination want to get involved in the politics of this project, nor do I want to take sides and/or make judgement calls. It's not my place as a fan of the band. Period. That said, I do think I'm qualified to "pick" actresses and/or musicians who I think are qualified for this. For the part of Jackie Fox, if they decide to cast a J.F. part, I give you Canadian actress/singer Melissa McIntyre. I think she'd be perfect:

Maybe Noelle from the band Damone as Joan Jett? Or Julia Roberts' niece, Emma - yeah, I know she's a little young - if they tomboyed her up a bit, as Sandy West: Next, actress Allison Scagliotti as pre-blonde Lita Ford, complete with tough-as-nails facial expression: (There are also some more good photos of her at IMDB.com) Finally - and I was given a tip on this one - English actress Christina Cole (from "Hex") as The Cherry Bomb: Alrighty...so how do I become a casting agent and get my finders fee? LOL!

I believe Cherie has a niece named Tina that would fill the role nicely. She must look a little like Cherie and probably can Rock just like her Aunt too! Who knows, if she wants to get into acting this could be her big break!

Bazaniamania, I love your choice for Jackie Fox and Joan as far as looks go anyway. Wow, very cool.

Bazania, I love your effort! You'd make a great casting director, totally. Honestly, I like each of the actresses you picked out. I mean their look, anyway. I saw Damone last year and liked them alot. The Cherie actress that you were tipped off on looks amazing.

Interesting. I hadn't realized you can change your screen name on this system and the change would affect old posts. The more I think about this I don't see this movie ever happening. Of course I could be wrong, heaven knows it wouldn't be the first time, but I'll bet it never comes out.

Kenny mentioned the movie Neon Angels last Sunday on Joan Jett's Radio Revolution on SIRIUS Faction Channel 28. He didn't give any new details, just a rehash of who is producing and directing it. He talked a little about the move in a recent Jett interview... The Inside Connection - August 2007 I also spoke with Kenny Laguna about the recently announced Runaways movie. "It started with Cherie Currie, who was the original lead singer of the Runaways, and she wrote a book," he explained. "Just a little portion of it was about the Runaways. It was really about Cherie, and Cherie left the Runaways early. She became a big star and she was a very talented and beautiful actress. Her first movie, she was with Jodie Foster. It was called Foxes. Then she married an actor named Bob Hayes, who was quite famous, and she became a single mom because all actors and singers get divorced. Then she wrote this book about her remembrances.
"I was just trying to get it published for her as a favor and no one wanted to do it, so we thought maybe it could be done as a television movie. But I just kept fumbling my way forward in Hollywood, not being a Hollywood guy at all, and I ended up with producers John and Art Linson. Art Linson had done Fast Times at Ridgemont High, Fight Club, Untouchables, Swingers and like 20 movies, so I am very excited about this project. I am hoping it will get the girls into the Hall of Fame where they belong, but you're going to have to fight the glass ceiling there too. Come on, the Runaways belong in the Hall of Fame. I mean, the New York Dolls are in the Hall of Fame " www.insidecx.com/interviews/i108.asp Joan has been playing at least one or two Runaways tunes on her show Sunday evenings from 9:00 pm to 11:00 pm. She's played "Dead End Justice," "Cherry Bomb," "School Days," "I Love Playin' With Fire" and others I can't recall right now. www.radiofaction.com/hosts/joanjett.htm
