My wife and I went to the show Saturday. Everyone who performed was great. Special props are due to Cherie, who performed several Runaways songs. The Bangles doing Queens of Noise was also particularly good. We really liked the singer in the Sandy West band (not sure of her name) and The Donnas really rocked. We also helped Michael DesBarres keep from hitting the floor when he jumped into the crowd!
I just recently started getting into the Runaways music again after a lot of years, I guess after seeing the Edgeplay movie.
Sandy was an awesome drummer, one of a kind. They were all so talented - definitely not just a bunch of kids.
The only disappointing thing was that Lita, Joan, Vicki, and Jackie did not perform. Not sure if they were there at the Knitting Factory or not, as we got there at about 10:30. I'm sure that would have been a dream come true for Runaways fans and it's something Sandy always wanted them to do.
We've all heard about all the crap that they went through with bad managers, drugs, etc. when they were younger, but a lot of people go through tough times. I'd hope that they can put it behind them and get back together again for an album and a tour. The fans would love it.
