My copy of the magazine came in the mail today. Besides the excellent centerfold of the band's (I think), first promo photo, there are three other photos of the band. One is a casual shot of Joan, Lita and Cherie sitting at a table with the band Rush, the second is a promo shot of the four piece with Vicki and the last is a live shot of Joan, Lita and Vicki. All pictures are B&W. The article about Joan is basically a press release, but at the bottom is a section called: The Runaways 2008: Girls On Film Joan Jett's, 70s teenage band, the Runaways has a new gig. ProArt and John Linson will be bringing their rough and tumble coming-of-age story to the big-screen in Neon Angels. Famed video director, Floria Sigismondi, will write and direct the drama about the band that set the stage for girl groups like the Go-Go's, the Bangles, The Donnas, etc. The Linson's secured music rights and deals that allow them to tell the stories of members Joan Jett, Cherie Currie and the late Sandy West. An unpublished memoir written by lead singer Currie will be used as a resource for a drama that intends to bare all the drugs, sex and heartache experienced by girls who struggled to be viewed as musicians, not sex kittens with guitars. "We certainly utilized to our advantage our image as teenage girls who wore titillating clothes," Jett told Daily Variety. "But we also became an excellent band and made it OK for girls to play rock 'n' roll. It got hard once people focused more on what we were wearing than what we were playing...Looking back, I loved that period of my life," she said. "Growing up, my fantasy was to play in a rock band, become famous and make a hit record." The film will be financed independently...which will allow Neon Angels to be R-rated and edgy, factors that were important to Jett and Currie. Jett will be exec producer, along with her longtime manager-producer Kenny Laguna and Brian Young. This sound like a press release from awhile ago too.

I thought so too Wasted! Found it easily enough. It's the same article you posted when you started the "Neon Angels the Movie" topic here, last April. Thanks for letting us know what was in that Music Entertainment Magazine you just got in the mail, though! I've always loved that centerfold promo picture! Gus

Duh, thanks for jogging my memory that it is the very first news release from almost a year ago. I need to start taking some memory enhancing vitamins! At least fans in Florida can pick up a FREE copy.

Hey Wasted...did you get this from my post on Joan's board? My daughter brought me a copy because she lives in Orlando and it was a bar freebee. The centerfold pic is awesome enough but I also enjoyed the other photos, some of which I had never seen before.

I agree, alot of people wouldn't have access to it had it not been on eBay. The Cleveland Scene magazine was always free for years and they featured some great articles and if you weren't in Cleveland, you couldn't get one.

Wasted, I never thought about it like that but for sure you are right. Thanks also for the link to your post on Joan's board. I'm not on line as much as I used to be and sometimes I just have time to scan the boards for things of interest and I missed your post. When I saw the size of the centerfold shot I was just blown away by it, but didn't get a chance to post it until a while later.
