This is the 16 year old Cherie Currie that I saw in 1976 in CBGB (Manhattan, the Bowery) and in My Father's Place in Rosyln, Long Island the same year: www.imdb.com/media/rm1817412096/nm0192947I didn't know anyone was taking pictures (OK, I remember flashes but that's it! :-) ) I love you Runaways! Mmmuaaa!! :-) --- Tony

So she was wearing the corset going back to August 1976. In one of the interviews in Japan, she said she'd been wearing it for about eight months, which would have made it around November. Does anybody know the first show she wore it at?
And what did she do - run backstage to change into it for a 2 minute song, then go back and change into her regular outfit again?

Yes! What a treasure trove of Runaways photos! I too was pleasantly surprised when I found them.
And yes, I found out by reading Cherie's book that at the end of Dead End Justice they used simulated blood for some time until they got tired of it mainly because of it being too "messy" :-)

At least for a show or two there was like a small makeshift box on stage...to do a quick change! between songs...Super hero Cherie...

Oh no cherrykiss2, I didn't take any pictures myself! To tell you the truth, I didn't even know who'd be playing that night at CBGB. I just wanted to "impress" a college senior girl (I was about to begin grad school myself at SUNY Stony Brook) and take her to what was then one of the hottest clubs in town (town=NYC; we lived in Suffolk county, Long Island, Stony Brook as I said).
I had planned an "all talk" date with her until suddenly I see these five teenagers (which reminded me, BTW, of myself at that age 15, 10 years before!) walk on stage and start playing like they knew their stuff (which they did!)
I just stood there in amazement. The "talk" had to wait :-)
Then I told my date about how I was also a pretty good child lead guitarist. "Almost as good as the teenage girl we just saw playing lead guitar in there..." [Lita] :-)
It was after the show that I learned the band's name.

This is an August 1976 article in PEOPLE magazine about The Runaways when the oldest one was 17. www.people.com/people/archive/article/0,,20066829,00.html According to Cherie's book, it came about because of their performance at CBGB which we were discussing at the beginning of this thread. Two interesting points: Robert Plant endorsed them to Mercury Records. All the pills that they took were vitamins and what they drank was Dr. Pepper . Yeah, right; and me too when a I was in the same situation. Great times! --- Tony
