I READ THE STEAMY VERSION! Because I couldn't find the first one. Anyway, I paid twenty five bucks for the book. It was well worth it. I ajm writing an ameteur bio of the Runaways and this will really help me a lot with everything. I'll post it here after I've edited in all my new info. Here's my review of the book.
Cherie Currie is a survivor of her time. She's survived Kim Fowley, Drug addiction, Lita Ford, Smelly vans, movies, albums, love affairs, an experiance with a lesbian, death, destruction and a whole lot more. And the whole story is in Neon Angel. While Cherie can be a little over dramatic at times, this is truly a rock book. Completely awesome.

Does anyone know who's book sold better? Just curious how they sold side by side, I still have to get Joan's book and from what I hear from others it's well worth getting.

It depends on what your looking for in a book .
If you want rare beautiful photos , then get Joan's book . If you want more of a story line book then get Cherie's.
I prefer Joan Jett's book over Cherie's.
Joan's book - Is very beautiful, colorful & rare photos - The photos of Joan as a little girl is worth it alone.
Cherie's book tell the story of her f*cked up life , drugs , rape , The Runaways etc......
so it depends on what your looking for in a book.
Cherie's book - I believe did alot better then Joan's .
Cherie's was on the New York best seller's list and peaked at #6 if I remember correctly.
Joan's book - I haven't a clue .

Cool, thanks. Ya I have Neon Angel and it was an enjoyable read, a really addictive book, couldn't put it down. Especially loved the chapter about the London tour and the girls getting arrested for stealing hotel keys. Will defo pick up the Joan book when my I'm back in funds, Joan pre- Quatro style is worth seeing d*** Cherie's book did that well, the power of the twi-hard army is crazy. No wonder most artist's today wouldn't turn down the opportunity to be on those soundtracks, once they've done it they're rolling in it.

Best female rock n' roll book I've read in awhile! A real page-turner!
There are, however, some timeline errors and loose ends I'd like to tie up which maybe someone can cast some light upon?
For example, on what exact date in 1976 did Kim Fowley and Joan first meet Cherie in the Sugar Shack?
In the chapter entitled "The Orange Tornado", it is clear that it took place on a Wednesday as she agrees to an audition three days later the following Saturday at two p.m.
Then, when asked her age, Cherie tells Kim that she's fifteen and that she's "...going to be sixteen in a few months...", and since her official bio states that her birthday is November 30, (1959), this would obviously place this first meeting with Kim and Joan at the Sugar Shack around September. Yet, after Cherie arrives home excitedly telling her family about the upcoming audition, she writes, "It was November and the air was cool."
In the chapter "Mom's News", Cherie is vague about the Runaways' first performances. She only mentions "warm-up gigs" and "house parties", and one "on the roof in one instance" (which must be the Huntington Beach gig sometime in November, if I'm not mistaken). The Runaways timeline link to this webpage is unclear as to specific gig dates which include Cherie as a band member. Mickie Steele is listed as playing the Whisky in Hollywood on October 13 and the Laguna Beach Theater on October 31.
In the chapter "The Queen of Hate", after her description of being raped by "Derek", she states, "I decided I would go to the grave without ever telling another living soul about what had happened...", and that she never told her mother about it.
But in the October '76 Crawdaddy article, she blurts it out for the whole world to read, and in that same article her sister Marie, referring to Cherie's rape, shockingly states, "In a sense, the experience was good for her." So much for taking that secret to the grave!
In that same article, Joan refers to a frightening nightmare she recently had about being shot by machine guns while on stage.
Now, because this article was most certainly written months earlier long before the magazine actually hit the newsstands, this dream clearly pre-dates Joan's revelation of a virtually identical dream she presumably tells Cherie about for the first time in a hotel one night during their October '76 U.K. tour. Or was this truly one of Joan's recurring dreams that Cherie had somehow forgotten reading about in Crawdaddy months before?
And who was that 24-year-old "Latin singer" who Cherie was supposedly due to marry before his family forced him to call it off? He would have been born in 1953-54, although it is possible that there is some deliberate disinformation here in order to conceal his identity. He may not even have been of latin descent at all. And go try and find a list of who exactly played in the June 1977 Tokyo Music Festival to track down a likely candidate. A daunting task indeed!
Any ideas or suggestions?

Especially loved the chapter about the London tour and the girls getting arrested for stealing hotel keys. It broke my heart when Cherie was describing Joan crying out from her cell all alone

For something to make that toughie crack...you just know it was trauma. And for freaking hotel keys!

Too bad their song "Dead End Justice" didn't come to play during that time in jail!
