So I just got the Flaming Schoolgirls album, and listened to Hollywood Cruisin. What the hell is that supposed to be? Is there some story or something? Obviously, I recognize the "Hey foxy, come here!" part from the beginning of Hollywood, but the rest of it is weird and kind of makes me feel stupid for listening. Seriously, what the eff?

Hollywood Cruisn' is a joke version of the classic song "Hollywood" which was released on their second album. It's a song that captures the epitome of the band's round-the-clock partying bravado more than any other and features Lita Ford & Jackie Fox doing the Boulevard. Sounds like they were having a blast! I love it! Gus

Well in my opinion you can't be much of a Runaways fan if you don't like this tune..... The song is funny and a real classic )) So much fun listening to them talkin' on this one. They were very young here remember that !! XO

Hey man, just because you're a fan, it doesn't mean you have to like EVERYTHING the band has ever done. It's a band, not a cult. I just thought it was weird, and wondered if there was some kind of backstory or something.

I don't know about anyone else on here, but for me,I just love the band and it's members. I gotten to know some of the members of this band and they are really great poeple. I can love the despite their faults and praise them for they're accomplishments. ...but I think that Hollywood cruisin' is great, and yes it is funny. Jackie Fox wrote a backstory about it on her blog, here: blogs.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=blog.view&friendId=242586186&blogId=325288029

Jackie is awfully negative about a lot of their music though, isn't she? IMHO, anyway. But, that just goes to show that even the people that MADE these songs don't think all of them are stellar. savagesilk - no hard feelings, eh? I'm giving you the benefit of doubt, and assuming you didn't mean to insult me by questioning my fandom (based on the presence of the smiley). Don't get me wrong, I love the vast majority of their stuff. I wouldn't waste my time on this board if I wasn't a fan. p.s. just as a funny aside, spell check recommended that I change "fandom" to "condom". Ha!

when i first heard that tune, i was just so excited to hear what their speaking voices sounded like. have any of you ever had that kind of fanaticism? for example, centuries ago, when i first bought "...And Now", and the back cover stated "Lead Vocal, Lita Ford" and Lead Vocal, Sandy West" I couldn't wait to hear what they sounded like. I flipped out the first time I bought "Live in Japan" because Sandy had a solo... Anyway, i love that Hollywood Cruising is part of the bands legacy.

I love it too. It definitely gives some insight when those voices come through the speakers. Lita is too cool.

Haha, I love Hollywood Cruisin'! I mean at first I didn't know what the hell I was listening to, but it grew on me. It's nice to hear [two of the] voices behind the music talking to two drunk guys on the street ;D I don't really get why your fanliness would go into question for not liking something by the Runaways. I don't like their Beatles covers all that much (especially Strawberry Fields) but that doesn't mean I don't love 'em to death. It's not a big deal to not like Hollywood Cruisin' because it's just talking. It'd be a big deal if you didn't like Neon Angels or Dead End Justice (sort of kind of just kidding. But I would find a way to make you like them if you didn't.) Okay, enough of my ranting. I'm going to go watch some M*A*S*H then go be un-patriotic

Hollywood Cruisin'! definitly rules! Indeed I love to hear the spoken voices and the lyrics are (as far as a Dutch guy can guess) great: NOT YOU ! And hey, it's not that we are fighting over country-borders or worse football-colors (Europe only!) we talk fan-base here. Even if you just like Kim's head and hate all music and call yourself a Runaways fan, I think you should have the right to have a fair discussion on the board.
