Hi Everybody
I bet that if Cherie Currie, Joan Jett, Jackie Fox, Lita Ford, Vickie Blue or Laurie McAllister were coming across this discussion board, they would laugh out loud because we are probably behaving like themselves thirty years ago during their fightings...for "slightly" different reasons, of course!
;-)))
Peace Girls and Boys!

"Waitin' for the Night" is my favorite. Love it love it love it. That whole punk feel drives me wild. (NO pun intended). "...And Now" is tough to love, I think. I remember when I was little, running to the imports section and going straight to the "Rs", flipping through and seeing it there, A NEW RUNAWAYS RECORD!!!!! with it's orange, "Jem Imports" sticker on it. I couldn't wait to get home. I was actually going to get to hear Lita sing!!!! (I'd heard Sandy already on the Live album, but was PSYCHED that she had a solo on this album too!!!!!) I snuck it into my room, (because I was nine years old, and "You're too Possessive" on the last album with its' "i got no time to f-ck with you" lyric got it banned from my turntable) and put on "...And Now". I hated it!!! I hated it so much back then, I wanted to return it! The only songs I had liked were "Black Leather", "Right Now" and "Mama Weer...". And "Mama Weer..." was kind of pushing it as well, I wasn't THAT crazy about it. Over time however, I did grow to love this album in its own right. It's an historical biopic of where the band was at the time; Kind of un-even in tone (not really punk, not really metal) and obviously in that sense reflecting exactly where Joan differed in taste from Sandy/Lita. Eventually, I began to enjoy "Takeover", "My Buddy and Me", and eventually became all but OBSESSED with "Saturday Night Special", with Sandy POUNDING OUT that delicious opening beat. Man, she was a killer on those drums, I loved her. The last song I grew fond of was "Little Lost Girls". I was too young to appreciate its honesty then, and now it truly strikes me as sad in its biographic mood. "Eight Days a Week" is what it is....I can take it or leave it (ieew, again no pun intended...) and "I'm a Million"...well....I did go through one short phase where I liked it for a while, but it's a tough one to love! It's L O N G and doesn't have that driving rhythm that I love so much in the bands' signature music. But Lita is a gifted musician. As far as tired topics go, I can always go for a little "Runaways philosophizing". So count me in.

Ok. I had only read the first page of this thread before posting that. When I was writing that last post, I was actually kind of happy to be over here, and that fans "from all paths", so to speak were getting along well. Then, after I posted, I'd realized that I missed two pages in-between. Ahhh, I'd written something here, but I'm deleting it. Instead, I'm gonna borrow this great quote from Chrys, which is written on this site: (Chrys, I hope you don't mind) "In short, life can be a pretty wonderful thing sometimes and the little pains don't always matter in the overall scheme of things. So let's have a little fun and hopefully help more people get in tune with a great band." I am glad for this forum in its tribute to this band I love.

Hey JFo, I know what you mean. I felt the same way about And Now but the songs definitely grow on you. To this day it's probably my least favorite of the band's efforts, but there are certain songs that are just, I dunno historical if you will. You gotta love um.

So many good choices... I voted for Black leather because my daughter and i introduced her best friend to The Runaways, and currently Black Leather is her fave song. Need i say more?

I personally *love* the record. There's lots of variety and I can imagine the band heading into interesting directions had they stuck it out. BTW, Laurie McAllister did the touring following the release but, other than the Orchids (early '80s), does anyone know what became of her? As applies to all of the previous Runaways bassists she was quite the cutie and, if you go back and listen to some of the audio clips (for instance the final Rodney on the ROQ appearance) she was quite funny.

Hey NeonAngelo (Great name, by the way):
A few months back, Laurie's boyfriend was posting here for a time. I seem to recall that he stated she was doing well; I believe he'd also stated that she was planning on posting here eventually, but I don't think she ever did. According to him, (I am totally paraphrasing, I don't remember very clearly) she was kind of surprised that anyone was interested in her. And we were like "Of course, we'd love to hear from her, etc.". Any fellow board members recall those posts from months ago? My memory is pretty beat.
