Hey,
I was wondering, has anyone ever actually seen this bootleg or does anyone own a copy? I've been looking for it for a good 15 years now and have yet to see one I'm just curious if it even exists!?!? It's on the discography on this site, and I've seen it listed many places but have never known of an actual copy to exist.
Birmingham Blitz Recorded Live in the UK July 1978
If anyone does have it or any clues, I guess this would be the place to find out! Do tell!
Thanks! Omid

The reference to Birmingham Blitz on this website probably came from the definitive collector's book about The Runaways by Ute Beginn called Born To Be Bad. It is listed on page 124 in the Bootlegs section. This is the only place I've ever seen it referenced. I've never seen a copy of it in the flesh or vinyl in this case. I don't know if Ute knows any more about it.

Thanks for the responses. yeah, that's where I've seen it listed too (in the BTBB book), and I've also seen it on want lists dating back 15 years, but nobody seems to actually have one- which makes me wonder if it even exists or if it's just Runaways folklore... I mean, maybe somebody at some point back in the 70's bootlegged the Birmingham show and made a tape of it and titled it "Birmingham Blitz" and that was all it was. Any other clues would be appreciated!

A person I used to know was ever so proud to one-up me on this. She came over pretty puffed up about having Birmingham Blitz put on cd for her by some guy in Germany. She even played it for me and looked at me haughtily and said, "So what do you think about that? I have it and YOU don't." It almost hurt not to laugh when I told her it was a bootleg of a show done in California. She said, "How do you know THAT?" So I rewound it to the place when Cherie clearly said something like, "How are you tonight California?!" Ahhhh memories. But unfortunately that's the closest I ever got to it.

an update on this... I actually found an old Runaways bootleg tape list I'd gotten from somebody back in 'the day' (it's on that ancient style thin fax paper and super faded, almost illegible!).... but anyways, the Birmingham, UK tape is on this list! It says it's live from July 14, 1978 from Barbarellas in Birmingham, UK - 45 minutes!
Unfortunately, the only thing missing from this list is the name or address of the person I got it from which SUCKS! There is some amazing stuff listed on here that I can't believe I didn't order!!! I used to run ads in Goldmine Magazine looking for Runaways stuff, I think this came from somebody seeing one of those ads. oh my... I wish I could go back in time and get some of these!
