i'm looking forward to getting the cd. i hope there's cool pics that we haven't seen before. what a shame that there don't seem to be any 'lost recordings' or 'from the vaults' stuff to be dug up for a release like this.. even so, i'm looking forward to getting it.

I had a hand in the Liner Notes for ANTR Re issue, Cherry Red also emailed regarding our "really cool and informative site " that they were " eating up"-Don't be surprised if the bios and the discog are from here. I hope the Liners come out cool. Hawk That's way cool Danna! [glow=red,2,300]GD[/glow]

on one hand i'm pleased that CherryRed is doing their part in keeping the Runaways legacy alive. it's admirable. on the other hand, i do wonder why the bothered. the press blurb states that the CD features 'all the band's highly collectable Japanese picture cover single sleeves..'. i found this misleading. for some reason i was expecting large blow-ups of the sleeves or at least a picture sleeve per page within the CD booklet. but no: what we get is teeny tiny - maybe 3/4inch - reproductions dotted around the biography. you'd get a better idea of what the sleeves are like by checking out eBay or Runaways-related websites or simply performing a Google image search. Japanese single sleeves from the 70s were renowned for their crisp clear colour reproductions. that is why the Runaways Jap tour book was so prized and sought-after. in this CD you get no indication of that as it's obviously done 'on the cheap', much like Cherie's 'Beauty...' CherryRed reissue. 7 of the 16-page booklet are reprinted lyrics to the songs. again, a wasted opportunity. the CD cover itself looks washed-out. it looks much sharper and clearer on their website. on a positive note, it was nice to hear 'Right Now' again (i guess...), one of the so-called 'bonus' tracks. indeed, all-in-all, 14 measly tracks plunked together in a hideously-designed package. love and pigs' grease....ggx

Great. Another disappointing release. They need a proper "best of".

I think I've discovered another CD re-issue, this time from Australia on Raven Records. CD Universe shows The Runaways / Queens Of Noise (2008) Street Date Jun 10, 2008. www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7675120Wikipedia says Raven Records is an Australian record label that specializes in retrospectives and reissues or recordings by American, British and Australian artists. I went to their website and found this new re-issue listed on the Upcoming Releases page. www.ravenrecords.com.au/UPCOMING RELEASES ON RAVEN
These are just a couple of our upcoming releases. Stay tuned for more details!

thanks for the tip-off Wasted. you always have some juicy titbit to get our chops around!! yes indeed Raven is that Aussie label that also reissued that Cherie&MarieCurrie CD 'Young and Wild'. here is the link: ravenrecordscomau.melbourneitwebsites.com/cat/index.cgi/shopfront/view_product_details?category_id=2964&product_id=78844i really shouldn't have been so 'hard' on poor CherryRed's Runaways Japanese Singles Collection. however! their Runaways reissues of all our Queens' albums a few years back was grand. elaborate, imaginative packaging and juicy liner notes from SallyOJ. you really felt you were getting a lot. and the re-mastering was superb (though i DID miss that 'fart' sound at the beginning of GottaGetOutTonight, i have to admit....). this Japanese singles collection isn't in the same league, i'm afraid. no fault of CherryRed but the songs that make-up this collection are NOT the Runaways finest hour by any means. that's why large (or at least substantially-sized) high-res. glossy honest reproductions of the sleeves themselves would have been a treat. love and pork scratchings....ggx

Chrys and I were heavily involved in the re-releases a few years ago. We were very pleased with the packaging, and the remastering, etc. I did contact Cherry Red, and I sent them some of the reviews. They have taken the criticism to heart, and hope to do better. We are still awaiting the re release of ANTR, I can only (until I see it) vouch for the liners, some stuff I agree with, others, not so much. You be the judge if and when it comes out. CR is sending me copies of the NR for my views-maybe they can do a new printing. I have told them what we all want, maybe they will keep us involved in future releases. The only way that I can be sure of the world's greatest content and packaging, it for us to do it. But, I don't have the cash, or the time. Nor, do I want to fight with anyone.
So I will try and work w/CR and see what together, we can come up with.
Asta, Hawk

So it isn't even out yet? Hmmm....I may hold off on ordering it then. The only place to actually have it in stock now is Cherry Red. Not my favorite album anyway.
If you guys were involved, can you answer why the begining of GOTTA GET OUT TONIGHT is chopped off?

We were only involved in the packaging and whatnot. The audio was not in our control.

Not yet, My understanding was it was pushed back to June. The singles collection was supposed to come out later this summer, but I guess they switched dates.
I am sure Wasted will keep us all up on it! *Thanks Wasted*

And Now... order status: www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=1195809CD Universe shows a Street Date of May 13, 2008 and Backordered since 5/13/2008. I received an email from them yesterday saying shipping Est. Delivery Date: Thursday, May 15, 2008 - Tuesday, May 20, 2008. I'll let you know when I get it. Japanese Singles Collection order status:www.cduniverse.com/productinfo.asp?pid=7669833I cancelled my order from CD Universe when the release date was pushed to June 17, 2008 and I found someone selling it on eBay. My copy arrived yesterday and overall I'm very pleased with this collection. I like the concept, very original and unique idea for a collection. I love that is has a picture disc. I still get a kick out of picture discs because CD's rarely had pictures on them in the early days. The liner note booklet is 16 pages and this time is doesn't fold out to a poster. I like the stapled booklet much better. It has writing credits, a biography, pictures of all the 7" singles, lyrics, plus a discography with pictures. It also has a photo tray showing all of the previous reissues Cherry Red has given us in the past. The sound was great. I still feel hoarse listening to Joan's scream on "Blackhmail" (Live). Thank you Cherry Red for continuing to support The Runaways. Are you going to release I Love Playing With Fire in the future?
