Already on DVD ?
It's sad the movie flopped at the box office. I thought for sure it would be a hit with top talented actors like Kristen Stewat & Dakota Fanning. It really goes to show that ''WOMEN IN ROCK'' are treated unfair. People didn't care about the runaways back in the day & they don't care about them now except for us die hard fans.
It's SCARY that we have ''Women In POP'' like Lady gaga , Miley Cyrus & Britney Spears as role models for females in music TODAY ..... YUK !

I share your feelings, but because The Runaways are so rare that makes them even all that more special. As popular as Lady gaga and Britney are, there are no movies made about them. Hell there are no movies made about 90% of all rock bands even more known than The Runaways. But yeah...I was hoping for a bit more demand for the film. I'm still holding out the Quentin Tarantino makes a film about The Runaways. According to Jackie Fox he is a fan and even had her autograph an Lp he has of them.

Reading reviews of the movie alot of people said it felt like a really long music video and its funny how many reviewers stated that after viewing it they needed to take a shower. Hmm some don't like gritty sweaty rock stories then . Haven't seen it yet don't know when its gonna hit cinemas this side of the pond so I'm reserving my judgement, alot of the times the critics are talking out of their ass anyway. Other good rock flicks such as Almost Famous didn't do well at the box office so I would'n t be too bummed about it. I bet alot of parents wouldn't let their tweens see it because of the adult content, the age restriction too, less bums on the seats, alot of K-Stew younger fans missing out. It's SCARY that we have ''Women In POP'' like Lady gaga , Miley Cyrus & Britney Spears as role models for females in music TODAY ..... YUK ! How could you mention Lady Gaga and Miley Vilerus in the same breath, GaGa has talent Miley is nothing but another disney accessory, bland music, bland personality a pointless artist. GaGa is without a doubt the BEST thing that has happened to pop music in a hell of a long time, the true successor to Madonna the Queen of Pop. GaGa is a breath of fresh air, innovative, creative and exciting, love her. Funny that you mentioned influential women in pop time magazine listed GaGa as the most influential artist alive at the moment. Cyndi Lauper on Lady GaGa: Lady Gaga's art captures the period we're in right now. She isn't a pop act, she is a performance artist. She herself is the art. She is the sculpture. Love Cyndi too, high praise indeed coming from an influential pop icon such as Cyndi. Don't mean to go on a fan- girl rant, I will always defend an artist I admire.

Me neither, idk what's happening to our generation, music is NOT music anymore, they're just keyboards and effects that's it. No drums, guitar, basses etc. And I thought too that TR was going to be a huge thing because Kristen Stewart is in it, I thought she would attract every Twilight fan. And Dakota, well is Dakota most of her movies are good or excelent movies

I might have liked Lady Gaga when I was 15 years old! I have to agree with a few others here that her music really sucks and all she's done is rip off everyone from Madonna with her music, to Terri Nunn of Berlin with her see-thru plastic outfits. All Lady Gaga is, is caricature of different artists all combined in one - no originality whatsoever. And then there's that rumor of her being a hermaphrodite too... As for The Runaways and the failure of their movie to make it in the theaters - here's hoping it somehow becomes a "cult" favorite among the rental crowd. It may not have mattered now, but maybe it will down the line. I for one really liked the movie, altho I won't be first in line to buy the DVD, since I'm a cheapskate and will wait for the prices to go down...

I read this article but, don't know if it's true or not from 2008.
As speculated , Lady Ga-Ga has confirmed that she indeed is a hermaphrodite. Pictures of her vagina, which shows a bulge resembling a tiny penis were released last week that started the rumours about her gender identity. Starrtrash confirmed the story with her blog.
Its not something that I'm ashamed of, just isn't something that i go around telling everyone. Yes. I have both male and female genitalia, but i consider myself a female. Its just a little bit of a penis and really doesnt interfere much with my life. the reason I haven't talked about it is that its not a big deal to me. like come on. its not like we all go around talking about our vags. I think this is a great opportunity to make other multiple gendered people feel more comfortable with their bodies. I'm sexy, I'm hot. i have both a poon and a peener. big f*cking deal.

I might have to step out on a limb here and defend Lady gaga. I just seen a drag show last weekend and the song was Teeth by Lady gaga. Lyrically it was very smart and interesting to me, and I liked it as pop music. I agree that she takes from other artists, but so does everyone else at this point. It's just like the movies, if you dig back and do your research history is just repeating itself.....its ALL been done before, just a different spin on things at a different time. So Lady gaga does have more tallent than Britney and the like....but she's NOT a rocker!

GaGa having a dick is the biggest BS ever, those pathetic rumors are just another example of an old story, namely the public savaging of highly sexual women- something that happened before with Madonna and even Debbie Harry before her. Pure sexism and I resent these kind of remarks towards women!
GaGa said when questioned about those retarded rumours "When a guy says, Oh, I f**ked all these chicks, there's a high-five and a giggling, but when a woman does it and it's published or she's free, or liberated, it's, Oh, she must have a dick. There's a threat. I also carry myself onstage in a masculine way and sing in a low register. This is not out of nowhere right?"
Also there are many artists I don't like but I'd never wish anyone dead, that's pretty cold. Being influenced by other artists and stealing their work are two different things, GaGa like all modern popstars today is INFLUENCED by Madonna, GaGa is her own creation and is the best female in pop at the moment. I'd also imagine they're many closest GaGa fans on this board too, musical variety is a good thing. I'm a proud GaGa fan, I love rock in all its different shapes and forms but I love pop just as much as long as it's not anything by boybands, pure trash.

GaGa is her own creation and is the best female in pop at the moment While you are entitled to your opinion, sorry to say not a lot of folks here share in that... now back to the band who can kick Ga-Ga's ass off the stage any day...The Runaways!

i too, thought that the movie would be a hit, because of the cast, & also because the early reviews were positive- it was after the statewide cinema release that the reviews got negative. like crimsonjett, i wonder when it's gonna be released over here- in fact i have sneaking suspicion that it'll get a limited release here (as a lot of rock flicks do over here, eg: control, ian dury & the blockheads, 24 hr party people- none of those got a general UK release), or even go straight to DVD.
