I don't think Joan should've sued. I'm sure they could've just worked this out by talking. It seems to be all about the money these days. I don't necessarily think it was about the money for JOAN.
She said that Jackie repeatedly tried to HALT the filming of the movie Insisting on reading the script and the like. I'm SURE that was annoying to the the cast and crew as well! Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have an extremely busy schedule, just finished New Moon, did the Runaways, and now have to start filiming the 3rd Twilight movie "Eclipse". IF Jackie was trying to halt the film from filming, as Joan says, then it was cutting into everyone else's schedule, time, and so on. If *I* was filming a movie and someone was doing that to ME, cutting into my time and schedule, I'd be annoyed and aggravated. Joan is not suing for the money, she is not in need of money.
btw, is litigiouslaguna the REAL Kenny Laguna posting? or Poser? (you can't tell on these type of message boards, so no disrespect meant! )

You are right; it is about control.

The Runaways were primarily JOAN'S band! Kim Fowley had "an idea", then Introduced Sandy and Joan, and together, they found everyone else. Joan was there in the beginning in 1975 as a 3 piece band and Joan was there at the very end when she was left alone and abandoned. EVERYONE ELSE QUIT!!! Jackie Fox, CHerie Currie, Vickie Blue, Laurie McCallister, and eventually Sandy and Lita left and that LEFT JOAN.
While all the members of the band contributed, of course, The Runaways was "Joan's baby". Jackie was a bassist for a year and a half, wrote maybe 2 songs or so, didn't record on the first album, and quit IN THE MIDDLE of the Japan tour. And NOW she wants a say??? Whatever.
Joan started it, ended it, and now co-owns the name of the band w/ Lita and Cherie. Jackie is an Ex bass player. Simple as that. Nothing more, Nothing less.

littlesister, I see your point, I guess no one liked working with Joan. But you also left out Mikki Steele and Peggy Foster, so that was 8 female musicians that couldn't get along with Joan. I never thought of it like that. It's to bad Joan didn't start out with a solo career, she could of called herself The Runaway and avoided a lot of heartache, headache and hassles and probably be still performing as such.

Interesting take on the events. My understanding was that in the end Joan wanted to do more of a punk/glam type of music and Sandy and Lita wanted to go more metal hence they went in different directions. I don't think Lita or Cherie would agree that The Runaways was primarily Joan's band.

Sandy & Lita did not leave Joan. SHe felt they might since they were more metal and Joan was more punk, so the band broke up.

I also think it's sorta funny that Cherie couldn't wait to get out of the band, only spent about half the time in it as Joan, Sandy & Lita did, but it's all about Cherie & Joan in the movie and their "friendship". They didn't even speak after she left in 1977 until 1988! That was when she called into Rodney's radio show and talked about how proud she was of Joan and Lita's recent successes, then a year later the book comes out.

It's to bad Joan didn't start out with a solo career, she could of called herself The Runaway and avoided a lot of heartache, headache and hassles and probably be still performing as such. Uhhh, I left out Mickey STeele on purpose b'cuz Kim Fowley FIRED her. Peggy Foster, I believe and could be wrong, was also asked to leave. The first 2 bassists leaving had NOTHING to do with Joan.
2nd. Jackie Fox left because of Kim Fowley, NOT Joan. Plus other reasons as revealed in Edgeplay.
Cherie, as documented in her own words as well, left because of family ties, drug abuse, and Lita!
Vickie Blue left b'cuz of HEALTH reasons.
Laurie, I kind of forgot what happened with her. Hmmm. not sure.
And Sandy and Lita were being coerced by Toby Mamis to record a Heavy Metal album. Joan wanted to go in the Punk/Glam direction. Sandy said on Edgeplay that the management they had at the time was to blame, greed and the like, for breaking up the band. All 3 girls that were left were abusing so much drugs and alcohol too. I didn't mean to sound like Sandy and Lita outright couldn't stand Joan and left her. It was definitely in a "fog" of the drugs that all of this happened. Sandy and Joan contd. to be friends till Sandy's death. Sandy and Joan, from what I understand never had any bad blood between them at all.
So, how is your comment accurate that "noone wanted to work with Joan" when NONE of the band members EVER left b'cuz of her???
I'd check that statement for truth and not assumption or personal feelings.

btw, I just took a "visit" over on Joan's board, and too much animosity and arguing over there.
My above statements are not meant to offend anyone. I'm just stating my opinions, as everyone else here has the right to state theirs! ;D

The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that Kenny Laguna has part ownership of the name The Runaways. I didn't know he was in the Runaways...which one was she???
This is all very sad to me. I am a fan since day 1 of The Runaways, and of all the individual members. I guess we will never get the story straight on this current mess between Jackie and Joan/Kenny. Jackie was and always will be a member of The Runaways to me, along with Lita, Sandy, Cherie, Joan and Vicki. In my opinion, leaving Jackie's name out of the film shows real disrespect to the original fans of the band, as well as to the band itself.

little sister: I totally respect your opinion; I might not agree with it but I most certainly respect it and appreciate reading other points of view. That is what makes a good message board.
Most of the people on Joan's board are great; there is just one guy who is a bully and another who is just plain ignorant that screw up the vibe there. I think this board has a more intelligent feel and people tend to discuss more which is miles above the name calling and innuendo that go on over there. I don't think the admins here would put up with that kind of stuff anyway.
Not to mention that they left it off the "new" board too and then added it at the 11th hour.

I totally agree. I know is wasn't about the money for Joan, that's why I said they could've worked it out by talking. I meant it was probably about the money for Kenny Laguna. I'm still pissed that he offered $1000 for Lita's life story. The thing that doesn't make sense to me is that Kenny Laguna has part ownership of the name The Runaways. I didn't know he was in the Runaways...which one was she??? This is all very sad to me. I am a fan since day 1 of The Runaways, and of all the individual members. littlesister, you wrote 'Joan was there at the very end when she was left alone and abandoned. EVERYONE ELSE QUIT!!!! " what's your point? Even Joan quit. She didn't seek new band members to continue on with The Runaways name. She went on to help form The Blackhearts. And if Sandy and Joan were such good friends, why would Joan deny Sandy the one thing she wanted so much, a full band reunion?

I also wonder why Joan nor Lita never hired Sandy as their drummer once they went solo since she was so great.
