The other day I was watching Forensic Files , and they did broadcast the case of Mia Zapata (The Gits). That s made me remember Joan Jett perfomances Evil Stig with Gits members in way to help the cause and raise money to investigate Mia Zapata's murder. Great 4 Joan, a kind heart. btw: FF the day the music died www.megavideo.com/?v=QYY4UC12

I was lucky enough to attend 5 of The Evil Stig tour dates. It is something that I am proud to been a part of attending shows and handing out flyers with information about Mia Zapata and Phone Numbers for people to contact if they have any information about Mia's murder along with my best friend who printed these flyers up himself and even made coffee mugs , t-shirts etc which we gave to The Gits & Joan Jett and even Blackheart Records. My friend & I drove from Atlanta to New York City & made the trek down the east coast to attend the shows and help in anyway. I know it took many years later to catch Mia's murderer but I'm so glad this guy is off the streets. We miss you Mia & Rest in Peace. I love The Gits & Mia Zapata. They are in my top 5 favorite bands. Mia had an amazing voice and she wrote great lyrics that I can really relate to. It's such a shame what happened to her, such a disgusting and evil thing that no one should have to experience. Not only for Mia but her family too. I'm so glad that they found out who did it and put him where he belongs. I was lucky enough to attend 5 of The Evil Stig tour dates. You did a good thing and the Evil Stig gigs must've been great to be a part of. I've seen the movie and its awesome but very sad too, of course.

Yes Nathalie , Those will always be some of the best shows for me and to see Joan front another band like The Gits which I love was just awesome. You really had to be there to feel the love , pain and anger that the surviving members of The Gits had. They thanked me for what my friend & I did and they gave me one of their 12'' Vinyl Albums with a special message they wrote on it for me. It is very sad what happen to Mia and what her family & friends went through. I'm glad Joan , Kenny and others were a part of justice for Mia.
RIP !!!

It always disturbed me that the creep who killed her was from Florida and living amongst us here afterward.
Another Shot of Whiskey was always my favorite from the cd.

Joan looks So Cute in that pic! I remember reading all about that when it happened...and just thinking no human being should have to go out like that and be left in the street like so much trash...very sad! it took them something like 5 years I think but at least they finally got the sicko...alot of similar violent crimes like that are never solved...Really Awful... Whiskey...here ya go...Kickin... www.youtube.com/watch?v=_kq2wn6Bh2g

Not really sure - I haven't keep up with anyone of them except what it said at the end of The Gits Movie but I saw on facebook a few months ago that Steve ( drummer ) is in a band forgot the name and I linked it to his myspace which I didn't care for the music but thats all I know.

You are also a Floridian? Where do you live? I am in South Florida. Are you going to the Miami Joan Jett show in December?

I was suppost to attend the Miami show but since I'm driving out to New Mexico for Thanksgiving I won't have the extra $$$$ so looks like I won't be there as planned.

Too bad that you won't be able to make it; I would have enjoyed finally meeting you. How long does it take to drive to New Mexico? Are you in Atlanta? Some friends of mine just moved to Santa Fe and I have been wanting to visit but just not sure if I will make the drive or just fly out. Also, I would like to coincide my trip with the best weather and maybe the Indian Market (not sure when that is) because they say it's very hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

It's about a 24 hour drive straight through from Atlanta. I used to live & work out there for a short period in my life and it is beautiful in New Mexico with The Sandia Mountains. It does snow there in the winter and hot in the summer. The best Authentic Mexican Food you will ever eat and lots of casinos. I have seen Joan play a 20,000 seat sold out coliseum in 1998 for July 4th and the next night play to 20 or 30 people at a Indian Casino. Joan plays New Mexico all the time and she loves it there. The last trip I made to New Mexico was a funeral in the early 2000's like 10 years ago so it will be good to go back and visit old friends who are like a second family.
