Recently I was in a record store in Orlando and purchased some vinyl. I only had Light of Day on cassette and picked up a mint vinyl copy but I also purchased a promo vinyl with several versions of "Don't Surrender" on it. The label is white but says Blackheart. I have several dance remixes of Jett songs but had never seen this. Now that I bought it I see there are several copies on Amazon or Ebay so apparently it is not all that rare. Does anyone know how this was distributed and how many copies of this are out there? I was kind of expecting one of the versions to the the alternate version from the BMG album but it isn't. There is one version I think they call it the Most Excellent version that really has a great beat; I don't know how I missed this one because I always loved that song.
Anyone?

I'm not sure how it was distributed and how many copies where made or sold but I do know it wasn't very rare at all and have seen it sold in stores many times.Anytime you see a Black & White Blackheart Label it is always a PROMO or REMIX.
I went to a record convention many years ago and found a 45 RPM of I LOVE ROCK N ROLL with ACTIVITY GRRRL on the B-SIDE on Reprise Records.
Also, I bought Love Is All Around on 45 RPM with Rubber & Glue as the B-SIDE and this is also on Reprise Records....
I know both songs I love Rock N Roll & Love is All Around were CD SINGLES but never seen them on 45 RPM so I bought them both.

Ok, thanks. I had thought it was rare when I found it but quickly realized it wasn't; still I had never seen it before and I am glad I bought it because it's kind of cool.
They had other promo 12" Jett vinyls too, but I wasn't as interested. Don't Surrender is one of my top 5 Jett songs.
I had bought the Love Is All Around cd single when it came out and I believe Rubber and Glue is also on there and I think one other song possibly; can't remember. It turned out to be kind of a useless purchase now but at the time I loved the song. After hearing her do it on Letterman I couldn't get it out of my head for days.

I remember Joan performing Love Is All Around on David Letterman very well. I would never miss a chance to watch Joan perform on TV but this particular night I had a date with a hot famous Gay Porn star at the time and also an engagement with one of The Baldwin Brothers. I set the VCR to record Joan on Letterman and headed out the door.
I saw Joan is April 1996 in Cherokee, North Carolina & Billy Crater told me wait until you see Joan's new look.Thats when Joan debut the short red hair and I liked it so that wasn't surprising to me on her Letterman performance but the outfit was another story when I got home to watch it.
April 1996 - Cherokee, NC show was very special to me cause thats also when Joan debut alot of NEW songs - I had never heard before and wouldn't end up on an ''Official'' CD until ''Naked'' 2004 & '' Sinner '' 2006.
some of the songs Joan performed that night in Cherokee were........
1. Five 2. Can't Live Without You 3. Kiss on The Lips 4. Watersign 5. Friend to Friend 6. Fetish 7. Love Is All Around 8. Naked 9. Androgynous 10. Baby Blue
After hearing the New songs my friend & I from Atlanta were dying to hear the New songs again so we drove from Atlanta to Scranton, PA and thats when Joan - Debut '' Ball And Chain '' a Social Distortion cover that was balls to the wall , kick ass cover I ever heard Joan perform. That Scranton , PA show was a effing killer show and I hope one day ''Ball And Chain '' will see the Light of Day and end up on CD or a Compilation for Social Distortion.
I have pretty good audio boot's of both shows .
BTW - Joan wore a see through shirt that night for the encore in Scranton and showed us her girls !!!!
hehe
sorry to go off topic

Memories....
So who was the "famous" porn star or don't you kiss and tell?
I have a boot version of Ball and Chain and agree they should do a studio cover of it; great song.
I love Cherokee. How beautiful the mountains are there. Was that the furthest you have ever driven to see Joan? My furthest was to drive from Miami to Virginia Beach for a 4th of July show. Great road trip.

The furthest my friend and I drove was from Albuquerque, NM to Kissimmee, Fl to see Joan for New Years which was 30 hour drive straight though.....
It wasn't uncommon for me to make 12-14 hour drive to see Joan but 30 hours was alot but we saw Joan perform 4 times that week so it was worth it.
