Jann Wenner has become a real weasel. From what I've heard he flat refuses to include certain bands, due to his own narrow-minded opinions. What is sad, is that no matter how many people want a certain band inducted, HE has the final say. The Dave Clark Five were very big, although they were in the shadow of even bigger bands, back then. Wenner thought nothing of casting them aside again last year, for his own, less relevant, choice. The Runaways and The Monkees were both highly relevant bands and yet his mind is made up that they don't deserve induction??? That is just wrong. No individual should have that much power! I think the petition will help but someone needs to get to that guy and convince him that he is damaging the Rock & Roll Hall Of Fame, with his arrogance. I also think that part of the problem is that they limit how many inductees there can be each year. All THAT does is leave people bitter and/or disinterested. This year's nominees: Afrika Bambaataa, Beastie Boys, Chic, Leonard Cohen, Dave Clark Five, Madonna, John Mellencamp, Donna Summer, the Ventures are all relevant but many other artists are just as relevant or even more-so! I have tried to find direct contact info for Wenner but I've had no luck. Letter's to the editor at Rolling Stone, is as close as I've gotten! Thanks for the article Wasted. You are right about it being an uphill battle but maybe the petition will get his attention! Let's not give up folks! It's our best chance to see the Fab Five get what they deserve..... Induction into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame! Please sign the petition now, if you haven't already! Gus

Why further attempt to legitimize the silly, meaningless, over-commercialized Rock & Roll "Hall of Fame" by trying to induct the Runaways? The RRHOF voting "experts" are more focused on pleasing the mindless pop VH1 minions in order to boost popularity and ratings. As a result, truly pioneering bands like the Stooges, Joy Division, Screamers, Runaways, and countless others that didn't made the "big time", will never be considered; while the Madonnas, Justin Timberlakes, etc. will be shoe-ins. Why even give this nonsense a second thought? The Runaways will be always be appreciated by those who understand and cherish R&R, regardles of what the RRHOF decrees.

One of my uncles always said, "Making the attempt takes more strength than the actual result."

I agree with your uncle...if the result you are attempting to achieve is worth it

Actually, a more realistic and important goal would be completion and wide distribution of the biographical Runaways movie we keep hearing about. If it is well done and captures the raw, rock and roll spirit of the Runaways, it would be really great for their legacy!
