My recollection is that Jackie denied any such attempt and said she had simply broken something...

I'm just glad she survived.

Not only has she "survived" but she's done quite well for herself.

All of the women have moved on and done well apparently; all except Sandy. It's too bad she couldn't have one last hurah on a reunion tour before she passed because she wanted it the most.

In the movie Edgeplay Jackie clearly tells the story about what happened when she cut herself with the broken glass and Cherie walked in on her when it was happening.

Clearly, Jackie was worried about the 2000 version of Cherie's book, which never got released. I haven't heard her complain about the 2010 book. I'm not sure what Jackie thinks about Cherie's new book but I do know that Jackie is no longer friends with Cherie on Facebook anymore. Don't know what went down with that (Cherie's political views perhaps?) I will say that I went to Borders with the full-on intention of buying Cherie's new book and when I read the chapter about her ripping on Jackie saying that she couldn't play bass and making fun of the way Jackie would express herself in conversation it really pissed me off and I decided not to buy the book. I put it back down on the shelf and decided to save my $25 by checking it out at the library instead.

Smokingfools- Oh I know, I have listened to those cds and watched the videos of The Runaways Live in Japan on YouTube. You can tell that Jackie can play the bass allright on those clips, which is especially good for someone who had only been playing for a short time. In the first book of Cherie's she didn't say anything negative about Jackie's playing (said she played a "mean" bass which is intended as a compliment). And then in her new book because she is personally pissed off at Jackie for reasons having to do with her believing that Jackie didn't help help her enough with the stories her new book she decides to rip into Jackie and insult her which I thought was a crappy thing to do. That's the whole reason why I didn't buy the book, I thought it was completely unfair and innacurate to talk about Jackie like that.

The proof is in the live tapes and her lack of participation in the albums.

Oh you are saying that she ISN'T good on the bass? I disagree, from what I have seen of Jackie's playing on YouTube and the Live in Japan album she sounded allright to me. Unless you can point out certain songs where you think she made mistakes. I know Kim didn't allow her to play on the Runaways debut album but I thought that was because she hadn't been playing as long as the other girls had and he wanted to get it done quicker.

Yes, I'm saying her sloppy live work and lack of participation on the albums makes her a bad bass player.

I decided not to buy the book. I put it back down on the shelf and decided to save my $25 by checking it out at the library instead. 15 minutes before you said this you said you have a signed copy of Neon Angel from Cherie, albeit on another thread. I'm confused.
