i didn't buy the whole JJ greatest hits this last time, but i did get the runaways re-visits she did on itunes. yesterday i figured out what drives my insane and why i always turn off "you drive me wild". does anyone else hate those stupid f*cking handclaps (so laguna signature) throughout the ENTIRE END of that song? it completely dumbs down the whole song for me. who likes that?

Well I think if it ain't broke don't fix it, The Runaways versions are no doubt much more enjoyable and easier on the ear then the over-polished Blackheart versions. I would like to see Joan releasing something new soon, stop plunging the vaults Joanie give us something new to get excited about.

I agree with some, and not with others. I love Joan's "Cherry Bomb". It's just more screamy even though contextually it makes no sense that she was not a kid when she re-recorded it.
But I WHOLLY agree it's time for some new tunes, or even new covers of other tunes. Just something fresh. And I'm one to talk because I just wrote 5 new songs this year after playing the same stuff for over 3 (then again, I'm not Joan Jett:) )

We talked about this a few months ago in another thread. I don't like the handclaps either but if we didn't have the few remakes we have now then people would be complaining they wish Joan would bring back The Runaways Music. I may not agree with the handclaps but I am grateful we do have them cause we could turn back the clock and go back in time when everyone was complaining cause we didn't have more of The Runaways music from Joan's solo career. so you don't have to like it but be thankful we have what we currently have.
It's d@mn if you do & d@mn if you don't !

I looked for that other thread, but as I don't spend a lot of time here anymore and I couldn't remember the title/couldn't find it/SO NOT a big deal to start a new one. And obviously, people are still interested and have new things to say, as there are quite a few responses.
Sure, I'm glad she re-made the tunes. "THANKFUL", as you so righteously suggested. However, that is more so because she's keeping the flame lit, so to speak, The Runaways legacy. Getting the name out there, flipping me out by doing the songs live, etc.
Just not keen on the "Lagunasized" aspect of them.

I agree with the handclaps, I hate them too. But if the Blackhearts are gonna keep doing Runaways remakes, I hope Kenny doesn't use anymore the handclaps, tambourine and all that crap. I'm glad that they recorded You Drive Me Wild and School Days but those details screw the song.. imo

I kinda would like to hear "Rock n Roll" Blackhearts style.
