Edgeplay: A Film About The Runaways is out on DVD July 7, 2010 in Australia Given the legal wrangling it’s no surprise that the film’s Australian release on DVD has been delayed for five years. It comes out on July 7, 2010 in Australia followed a week later by the Joan Jett executive produced feature film The Runaways, starring Kristin Stewart as Jett and Dakota Fanning as Runaways singer Cherie Currie. It centres on the lesbian relationship between Jett and Currie that Currie spells out.Interview: Victory Tischler-Bluewww.mcv.gaynewsnetwork.com.au/features/return-of-the-cherry-bombs-007454.html

Why hasn't Vicki sold the director's cut yet? She teased with the photo on facebook, then nothing else ever about it.

That bit about interviewing Kim was hilarious but no doubt infuriating if you're trying to do an interview, “OK, so I’m interviewing Kim Fowley and there’s a guitar player sitting right next to him. Every time he gives an answer to a question I ask the guitar player plays music to accompany the answer. Sometimes it’ll be blues, sometimes it’ll be surf music, power chords. And I said, Kim this is killing me, I can’t have a music track going on when you’re doing audio. You can’t edit it. And he said, well that’s the only way I can do it. So we did the whole interview like this." Also when Sandy broke into her house with those goons must have been scary, so tragic how her life spiraled out of control. It's still incredibly difficult to watch the last ten minutes of Edgeplay even though I've seen it dozen of times

man. i know she chooses to work with her management, and it's pretty much a mutual front at this point...but I really hope there is a good reason she has for all this bullying.
It's interesting to see a new interview with Samantha Ronson pulling a "Joan" by saying she never came out, and she's an equal opportunity player.
I love Joan a ton...but if there was something that I would disagree with...it's this contrived image thing that the queen of "I don't give a d*** about my reputation" has put on for decades.

After listening to more than three decades of altercation, I'm more or less resolved to not take a side in any of it. Each former Runaway sounds persuasive when putting forth her own view. Okay, I'm a little more persuaded by Joan, who was interviewed thusly four years ago: M: Why did you choose not to participate in Edgeplay [former Runaway Vicki Blue’s documentary film about her and Joan’s iconic ’70s teenage girl group the Runaways]?JJ: To me, the Runaways is my baby, so you have to understand my perspective. If there’s gonna be a Runaways movie, it should be about what we accomplished, the tours we did, the bands we played with, the people we inspired. I’m not gonna participate in a Jerry Springer fest, bottom line. With any band, you’re gonna have interpersonal conflicts, but if that’s what they thought the Runaways were about—about breaking a bass or putting on make-up—well, it’s very disappointing. Very, very disappointing. I wanted nothing to do with it because that’s not the band I was in. [The film] was a totally different take on what went down.Interview: Montreal Mirror, 2006www.montrealmirror.com/2006/080306/cover_music.htmlThere's something incredibly destructive about 21st-century celebrity culture, with the crassest exploitation of celebrities' personal lives. Mental health is at risk and no wonder addiction is rife. JJ managed to get above it and stay above it. I admire that she remains circumspect, particularly about disputes among former bandmates. I say that even as fascinated as I am by Edgeplay (being a Jetthead and a long-time Runaways junkie). I'm thinking that junk is not good for ya.

I think that's the reason I hope the stuff more than one, and more than three people I know personally have said is just bitter rumor. I really hated Edgeplay to be honest. I don't like Cherie's attitude, and that movie was sour grapes for the most part. And I've seen Cherie in person bashing The Runaways movie and Kim Fowley. It would be more than nice to see the old footage released, though. And if it's not being released because of money(like the whole Rocky Horror soundtrack issue), that would be sad. Everyone is a hypocrite and a hero...including Joan in my book. Including everyone of us. We're all people. ETA...I tend to just not build up celebs as anything more than super talented and driven people who at the end of the day, are just people. People can be jerks some days, and saints others. It's obvious that Joan is a nice person to her fans. I think her convictions are one of the reasons I'm so glad I am a fan now. I've been vegan since 1993, tattooed, animal lover, and even into the leather community...all way before I knew more than Joan's name. So, it's cool to see her out there in fame land. Doesn't mean I don't disagree with her on a few things...

(But I think that the movie was more of 'The Joan & Cherie Story' rather than a focus on their accomplishments and tours etc.)
