Hello people I`m new here Would like to know what are the songs Joan Jett sing in the first "Runaways" record and in "Live In Japan".I understand the other songs are singing by C.Currie right? (except "Wild Thing" by S West). Thanks in advance! Charly

Listen to the albums and you will find out!
It's very easy to tell them apart.
If you are a fan of The Runaways you should already know the answer to your own question.
There is a similar post of the Joan Jett board .
sounds like a bunch of BS to me!

Jettigre, typing "If you are a fan of the Runaways you should already know" to EVERY question anyone asks is not helpful and comes off somewhat hostile. Not a nice way to welcome a newbie. We get it, you're a better fan than the rest of us. Lay off a little.
If you're just getting into a band, sometimes it's hard to tell who sings what. If you don't know what each person's voice sounds like to begin with, it can be hard to figure it out. Hell, I like my Eagles record a whole lot, but have no idea who sings lead on anything. Heart is now my all-time favorite band, but until I read somewhere that Nancy (and not Ann) sings lead on such-and-such a song, I had no idea. Sometimes it's hard to hear the differences with no info.
Anyway - If I'm remembering properly, on the first album, Joan sings lead on You Drive me Wild and Blackmail, while Cherie sings lead on the rest, except Dead End Justice, where they take turns. On "Live in Japan", Joan also sings I Wanna be Where the Boys Are. Hope this helps : )

Listening the records i thought that Joan also sings "Lovers" on the first album and " C`Amon" in Live in Japan" , am i right? Thank you very much again.Yeah, i think i`m a fan of the band (have all their cd`s), but sometimes is difficult o know who`s singing, for exaple i thought C.Currie was singing "Queens Of Noise" and Joan "Rock and Roll" and i was wrong!!

Joan & Cherie sound NOTHING alike !!!!
It is very easy to tell who is singing what songs......
I HATE ALL THE CHERIE SONGS by THE RUNAWAYS !
But, I LOVE ALL THE ONES JOAN SING ON!
Again, they sound very different!
Cherie sounds more like pop/opera crap !!!
Joan sounds very hard core PUNK with the screaming and all !!!
This is just a foolish to not know who sings what !!!
WHATEVER !

On the first album Joan sings You Drive Me Wild, Rock And Roll, Lovers, Blackmail and she shares lead vocals on Dead End Justice. Just ignore Jettigre. Everybody else does.

Hmm. Seems I'm not even sure of who sings what myself. Well, I forgot "Lovers" because I don't like it. Rock and Roll, hmm? Listening to it again, I guess it is Joan on the first album, but doesn't Cherie sing most of it on "Live in Japan"?

Enough. Stop thinking that everyone who has a question is a troll. Don't send people to other boards top ask Runaways q's. Grow a set and answer them, nicely. You were one a newbie to the band too. Yes, we have trolls, and we all don't agree, and there are some serious issues with and between band members, managers, fans, and friends/family. But, be nice to the kiddies........until it's time to not be nice. k? Hawk

Not something you would expect to hear from a supposed "newbie."

Back to the original discussion. Most, if not all the vocals on the first album were dubbed with both Cherie's and Joan's voices together. Usually one is more prominent than the other, with the exception of 'Cherry Bomb'. If you listen to 'Blackmail', the primary voice is Joan's but you can hear Cherie's underneath. Same with 'Rock and Roll'. Once "Queens of Noise" came out, it was pretty much one or the other. If there were backing or harmonizing vocals, it was usually their own or Jackie's.

It must be sheer torture for you to have to subdue your usage of exclamation points in your attempt to appear to be another user.
