All right you guys. I'm still feeling a little under the weather so my mind is drawing intermitent blanks for no reason at all. So I'm asking you for help.
I'm in the process of writing something about why The Runaways deserve recognition and I need to expand this list, so please reply or email me with more names of female-driven, all-female and/or female-fronted bands/artists that were either directly influenced by The Runaways or benefitted from their existence. Also if I've goofed on dates and put someone on here that was actually pre-Runaways, let me know that too.
Thanks!
Chrys
The list so far:
The Bangles, The Go Gos, Hole, Bikini Kill, The Donnas, L7, Seven Year B*tch, kittie, Vixen, Precious Metal, Amy Lee, Drain STH, Girlschool, Phantom Blue, Pat Benatar, Alanis Morrisette, Veruca Salt, The Gits, 4 Non Blondes, Concrete Blond, Babes in Toyland, Inger Lorre, The Plasmatics, Le Tigre, Sleater-Kinney, ....

It wasn't just the girls, I think The Germs were heavily influenced by The Runaways. A few names off the top of my head are Cherie and Marie Currie, X-Ray Spex and Shonen Knife. How about all of the bands that performed at Sandy's tribute concert like: Katt Lowe, The Adolescents, Athens, The Binges, Nashville Pussy (Corey Parks), Dead Kennedys (DH Peligro), Dian Katz, Die Hunns (Duane Peters), Bay City Rollers (Ian Mitchell), Jake Hays, Kanary, Michael Des Barres and Freelove Foundation, The Knack (Prescott Niles), Rhino Bucket, The Sandy West Band, Steve Olsen, Sweet Justice, Vinnie Appice, White Flag? The Cover Zone has many pages of bands [437] that Joan Jett influenced and some were probably from her days in The Runaways. www.thecoverzone.com/Jett/joanjettlist1.htmlGood luck with your article.

They had a lot of contemporary artists that might in some way be influenced. though i could not swear to this Holly and the Italians, Pearl Harbor and the Explosions... ( just a couple of bands i liked, Holly Beth Vincent in particular.. )
